Since Trump took office I've used #CoalMineCanaries to track the incremental steps taken to erase us. It's a lot. It's also been Trump testing to see what he can do to advance his power while avoiding too much pushback. There has been frightfully little pushback.
The Democratic establishment is a massive part of why we've reached this point. They are part of the problem. They allowed the GOP to frame us as sinful, as deluded, as unfair and as dangerous and even now refuse to take a stand to protect us.

Magnus Hirschfeld was born in 1868, in Germany. Reactionary doesn't fit at all; he was obviously very much against the reactionists of his time aka the Nazis.
Likewise, Prince in the late 1960's was forming the basis of cis-trans terminology and needed an umbrella term. The opposite of reactionary.
I don't think Magnus Hirschfeld would have considered himself a reactionary. He coined the term transsexual over a hundred years ago.
Virginia Prince coined Transgender to encompass both transsexuals and transvestites pre-1970. Again, not reactionary.
