There are lots of examples in e-commerce giving consumers the choice to have a lower impact or to offset emissions. I don’t know if those have had an impact at scale or how frequently consumers choose to say offset their flight emissions or skip plastic flatware with their takeout.
Another example are tools that allow people to map cycling, walking or transit routes. Helpful in daily navigation, but also in deciding where to live. My team at Realtor built a tool to search by walk, bike and transit commute times.
Making climate risk data available on maps or in scores that are a specific to a persons location or property is important. It allows people and companies to adapt and make better decisions. I led the work to add climate data to Realtor.com in partnership with First Street Foundation.
