Well, my actual pens are in the pen pot and my pen bag and scattered throughout the house and about 75% of them work… but never the first one you try although it is always immediately put back to be discovered next time. These are mainly brushes and some white gel pens which work after a fashion.

I see the Well of Awful People from whom Trump draws his ‘team’ has not yet run dry.

It’s a satirical film in which lots of horrible billionaires go on a cruise and then run into a storm in the course of which the plumbing is overwhelmed and the entire boat fills up with shit. It is rather satisfying in its own way…and certainly memorable!

My favourites are The Book of Dave and How the Dead Live.

Yes but he’s literary Marmite. People either love him or hate him.

I love Will Self and he was wonderful on Front Row. I’ve never heard him laugh before so that was a bit disconcerting.

Also, I believe James Howson was not treated very well. Paid little, had his voice overdubbed and had serious vulnerabilities round MH. It was every bit as tragic as the novel really.

As a writer he was prone to making so many mistakes.
Even his blood was typo.
