So I *think* the metaphor is supposed to show that the LLM is an exceptionally powerful horse, and unless you have the horse harnessed to your cart, it won’t do any useful work.
Whether it’s a good metaphor or not I think depends on your perspective.

Yes. In most of Europe, the comma is used to separate decimals, which causes issues if you have a CSV file which is literally comma separated. The most common fix is to use a semicolon to separate values, which means it’s clearly no longer a CSV in anything other than spirit, but the name lives on.

:D makes sense. Yeah I ran into issues building this on a library with an inode count of 550k and that was super slow, so I've done some fiddling with symlinks to node_modules etc and how to handle installing deps in the workspace, etc.

… you are! However, our sign-in features trigger some legal compliance issues on our side, and so we’ve decided that until we work these out, only adults (18 and above) can use the services we offer beyond the software itself.
We’re sorry we made such a pig’s ear of explaining this.’

Zed clarifying their actual position.
I mean, I was right, and as my wife knows, that’s very important to me… but what a terribly written email… *again*.
‘We sent an email yesterday where we said that “You must be 18 or older to use Zed”. We’d like to clarify on that: anyone is welcome to use our editor free of charge, however old…

The terms themselves don’t seem to restrict use of the “Software”, just “the Service” (zed.dev/terms#:~:tex...), which is defined as the subscription service (zed.dev/terms#:~:tex... Not sure why the email was phrased this way but it seems to be misaligned with the actual terms.
Huge self-own.

Terms of Service - Zed — Love your editor again
Zed is a high-performance, multiplayer code editor from the creators of Atom and Tree-sitter.
The terms themselves don’t seem to restrict use of the binaries, just “the Service” (zed.dev/terms#:~:tex...), which is defined as the subscription service (zed.dev/terms#:~:tex... Not sure why the email was phrased this way but it seems to be misaligned with the actual terms.
Huge self-own.

I think at least for folks in Europe, GDPR would protect you, because you have a right to a copy of all personal data a company holds on you, and a company choosing to disable data exports would have access requests up the wazoo.

Reply guy here, whether you’re British or not is a legal fact regardless of whether you have the document to prove it or not. There are many routes to being British, but getting a passport is something you do *once you’re British*.
That said, these donkeys probably mean it as racistly as possible.

I am sure they have some clever and highly paid people working on this: if they introduced a $100 plan, what percentage of $200 subscribers would downgrade (-$100 * n) vs what percentage of $20 subscribers would upgrade (+$80 * m), and is m at least 1.25 * n?

Me in an alternate universe with pyrotechnics going off behind me as I play guitar on stage.
I love my Tele, but just got out my old Ibanez, and it holds up much better than I thought it would.
Also: Joyo Jam Buddy II: absolutely slaps.
