The attack on Iran has hugely *increased* its leverage, by demonstrating its power to choke off global energy + critical resource markets.
Unless Trump accedes to Tehran's terms -- including reparations -- the only way to reopen the Strait would be a ground invasion.

As always, essential reading from @vermontgmg.bsky.social
βEvery gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.β βDwight D. Eisenhower
Gen. Grynkewich: "What I've observed over the course of studying air power in history is that any time you attack a civilian population, you usually end up finding that it just hardens their resolve."
Yes, this is a very insightful read.
I keep seeing people ask about the 25th Amendment.
Guys. His entire Cabinet is walking around in shoes that donβt fit because theyβre scared to take them off.
The 25th is never happening.
I asked President Trump about the FBI reportedly seizing election records in Arizona. He said they must have done that because it was a βriggedβ election. I pointed out to him that his own AG said there was not measurable voter fraud to overturn that election. Then he called me a rotten reporter.
If we could just raise sea levels by 150 meters we get a backup Strait of Hormuz
My experience is different than yours, but I agree that overall cost is a concern for many.
That hasn't been much of my experience. Pretty much everyone I mention it to asks "Don't you need special pans for that?" And every article or video about induction stoves mention it.
I would also guess most people aren't particularly attached to their cookware, and are mostly worried about cost.
fellas is it good when weβre asking: βIs it enough to keep economies afloat?β
Dear everyone,
As per the post from the Bodleian librarian below, AI bots and scrapers are putting just about every website under great pressure, British History Online included.
A lot of excellent tech staff are working hard to keep everything working, but outages and siruptions are inevitable.
In the last 24 hours, Iran has:
- Struck three ships trying to cross the Strait of Hormuz, disabling a Thai cargo ship
- Blown up a large oil storage facility in Oman
- Struck two oil tankers at harbor in Iraq, setting both ablaze.
- Blown up oil storage tanks next to Bahrainβs main airport
Cities in Vermont and Maine are experiencing some of the same tactics that ICE has been using across Minnesota since December, and facing lots of resistance.
Eric & Don Jr. are turning the Iran war into a family business.
Trump starts war.
Trump bans foreign drone rivals (DJI).
Sons merge their golf co with Powerus to sell 10k drones/mo to the Pentagon.
Their own bank brokers the deal.
The ultimate conflict of interest.
Oil surging 8% after hours now pushes $5 diesel as more likely and $4/gal gasoline gaining steam. 172 million barrel SPR release highlights the degree of the situationβ¦ finite releases still donβt replace Strait of Hormuz.
None of our cookware passes the magnet test. It's high quality, so not excited about having to replace it.
Yep. None of our cookware passes the magnet test. It's all 30+ years old, and is very high quality. It would/will be painful to replace it with equivalent cookware.
The thing that bugs me is that advocates for induction cooking systems rarely mention the cookware issue.
Here's my bottom line:
Much of what they are doing is bad.
Much of what they are doing is unpopular.
Pushback is working.
We are winning.
Keep fighting.
Be creative.
Push for what you'd want.
Allow for insiders and outsiders.
Realize that change takes time.
Reduce harm in the meantime.
LANDERS: Why did the FBI seize election records in AZ?
TRUMP: They probably thought the election was rigged
LANDERS: It wasn't though
TRUMP: Oh really? How do you know?
LANDERS: Your own AG said it
TRUMP: If you say it wasn't rigged, you're a rotten reporter
LANDERS: Where's the evidence?
Thanks. I suspect that none of my current cookware is compatible. The thought of replacing it all does not excite me.
For the record, when I serve in the @aoc.bsky.social White House I will be banning any photos of me that do not use AI filters to give me a fantastic jaw line.
What are using for cookware?
Comic. [Person with microphone in front of three people standing behind their own desks with drawers and a round box on top. You have 30 minutes. Good luck. [caption] The Home Remedy World Championships

tariffs happening for no reason and theyre making your life worse, secret police kidnapping people for no reason and making your life worse, firing thousands of government employees for no reason and making your life worse, going to war with iran for no reason and making your life worse
I guess Israel and the US didn't think about this before they attacked Iran.

It's looking increasingly like these guys thought that if they could wreak more death and destruction than the other side then they would be respected as strong powerful men and they would "win" and that would make them big important heroes. Very possibly they had no rationale deeper than that.
Saying that you -must- be grateful is what domestic abusers and Russian prison guards do. You must take the violence and say you like it. It is a mark of fascism.
Screenshot from the article saying: βThomas Florsheim Jr, the CEO of Florsheimβs parent company, said he was not aware of Trumpβs preferences and declined to comment further.β
Hilarious that the owner isnβt even pretending to be excited about the publicity.
Itβs nice to have a ride from the airport but Iβd also like a little respect.
