This could also offer tax incentives to big corps to donate to the community.
What about building something similar on atproto?
A single entity, like a non profit, could handle all the payments (keeping individual payment informations private) and the funds could circulate between maintainers.
Stripe and others offers discounted fees for non profit.

Since macOS 26 (have since regretted updating) I've disabled automatic updates.
My Mac likes to duplicate the root volume and drives.

One downside that I can think of is that people's blogs with the comment section may not want this, but this opens the possibility to have a "comment section" for non technical people.

You have your normal feed, but for each item people can leave comments, start threads, like stuff and maybe even rate it, a bit like Popfeed.
You can then see the feeds of other people.
