im not trying to say what they did to uyghur is right but it needs to be addressed with nuance considering its not all out violence/violation like ice raids or the genocide. China often does things differently that most outsiders cant comprehend.

rauhracing's profile picture rauhracing 34 m Okay this post needs context. About 1.5 years ago, we reached out to understand whether a Twingo would be an allowed to enter at the 24h Nürburgring. At the time, we were told in writing that “nothing speaks against entering a Twingo at the 24h Nürburgring.” Based on that guidance, we went all in and built our Twingo to the exact specifications we communicated to the organizer in 2024. What followed wasn an unbelievable grind. No backing, no structure, no real funding. A year ago, there was nothing. Today, there is a 24h regulation compliant race car, a team built from scratch, more than 75k followers (THANK YOU!), a 200-strong Discord community, voluntary supporters investing their free time, and partners excited to see the Twingo race.
All of this happened alongside full time jobs, late nights, and personal sacrifice. We are still overwhelmed by the support and the nerve that this project struck with you. Very recently, the situation changed. The organizer gave us the clear message that they don’t want cars like ours at the 24h Nürburgring anymore. They also told us that even if we fulfil all rules, we might not be allowed to enter, because of “unpredictable” factors. Taken together, this leaves very little room for interpretation.
Preparing for the 24h Nürburgring 2026 would require committing a >50k€ investment now. Gambling our financial future, personal time, and mental health on an outcome not tied to performance is not something we can justify, and nobody should be expected to. We have spoken to other small teams who have been dealing with these moving goalposts for years. We just wanted to race, but somehow uncovered this harsh truth: Small private teams are increasingly unwelcome and are being pushed out, even though the race is still promoted as a bastion of grassroots endurance racing. Good news: The project continues and the Twingo races on. We are happy to return once there is a level playing field for everyone.
