A little bit of steam (brass & leather) with glowing white, light blues, & neon purple electric crackles. Similar in style to Steampunk with brass, top hats, goggles, and more - this alternative history adds plentiful and cheap electricity and/or eclectic magic powers. Machines and devices run on highly detailed gears (powered by springs? Winding keys? Water/Air mills) Areas are very fantasy, but can also show off renaissance and Baroque time periods with incredible detail! Clockpunk Thoughts Who is making all these clockwork creatures? The government’s inventors or punk inventors? Why? Is the world/country/universe/planet a clock, and the punks are trying to stop it? Re-start it? Slow down time to prevent a dystopia from forming? Are inventors joining forces to fight? Is your punk responsible for gathering scarce/guarded materials?

I truly got into #cyberpunk with "Altered Carbon," but in memories prior sits H.M. Hoover's book "This Time of Darkness" still in my soul.

Blade Runner was an amazing movie, & I can't live in Japan without adding Akira to the list.

Anti-corporation, anti-capitalist, anti-authoritarians, anti-corporate greed mixed with DIY-ethics, freedom, non-conformity, individual liberty. What does this mean in writing? Challenging the norms, looking at alternative futures, and going against the grain. What do you get when a book is "~punk"? Not just a variety of future/past/otherworld aesthetics. It’s a pairing: Aesthetics + Punk. Punk isn't dead

So, 1st, what is "Punk"?

Punk was a music subculture (70s-80s) against The Man. Anti-corporation, anti-capitalist, anti-authority, etc.

Pro-being yourself, pro-going against what society says you should do/be.

With writing, the word (usually) in front of "punk" is aesthetics or the setting.
