Why am I telling you all of this? I want you to learn from my mistakes. The reason I am teaching the material that I am teaching in this course is because I have experienced a lot of bad, working in this industry. The vast majority of that bad was entirely avoidable by taking just one step back, slowing the process down and making better decisions with a clearer mind.
Move slowly and methodically to go fast. Careful planning can reduce technical debt, complexity and stress, resulting in your CSS getting out of control. In this free lesson from the Principles module of Complete CSS, @bell.bz breaks that down.

"Iβm a developer who wants to get better at design. Is this the course for me? One hundred percent yes. Itβs a core audience I wanted to address with this course. This is my background, these are my people! I know that so many developer folks want to learn design, but might be discouraged by gatekeeping or the identity crisis design as a practice seems to be in the midst of right now."
Is the Mindful Design course for developers? 100% yes β

A rather AT protocol and positive aspects of the web industry-themed issue of The Index here for you, mixed with some great CSS.

Today is the alpha release of npmx β an alternative browser for the npm registry. Abbey Perini joined early and soon discovered accessibility was a deep part of the culture, right from the start, which was both refreshing and incredibly productive.

`3` is itself an expression β a **primary expression**. In the same way the first rule of Tautology Club is Tautology Club's first rule, the number literal `3` is an expression that resolves in a very predictable value (psst, it's three).
In this free lesson from JavaScript for Everyone, @wil.to throws himself upon the sword of "well *technically*..." to explore the relationship between expressions and the values that result from them.

"What even is mindful design? Mindful design at its core is responsible and ethical design. Itβs an approach to design that makes explicit the implicit responsibility we have to the people who we ask to use the stuff we make. Itβs about learning how humans work, and using that knowledge to empower rather than exploit."
Boy, do we need more mindful design in the world. Thankful for people like @scott.is helping give us all the tools to push back against the tech industrial complex

By nailing communication you will by proxy, simplify and sanitise design work. This results in simpler code, which is what we should always be aiming for.
Giving and receiving feedback well is so critical. In this second free lesson from the Principles module from Complete CSS, @bell.bz breaks down how giving and receiving feedback productively can benefit everyone.

"Why Piccalilli; why isnβt this just on Udemy/Skillshare/Masterclass/etc? Iβm going to side with an independent publisher every single time. Thatβs the web I want to support. I wanted to write this in my own voice, and I wanted to play with the medium a little. JavaScript is weird; we might as well have a little fun with it, yeah?"
Thanks for choosing to publish this top class course with us, @wil.to π π

Weβre going to learn how to design for real humans. Real humans are fallible, weird, unpredictable, and above all else, unique.
How do you design for real humans, with all of our messiness, unpredictability and wonderful uniqueness? In the first lesson of Mindful Design, @scott.is gives an intro to what his Mindful Design approach is all about, and what you'll find inside the course.
