when you're 13, you get deeply bothered by 11 year old shenanigans, when you're 23 you just kinda roll your eyes.

when you're 2-3 years out from a flavor of stupid, encountering it is indignifying. when you're 10+ years out from a flavor of stupid, encountering it is mildly disappointing.
this, plus the fact that I basically only use Claude when I have credits, are why I'm switching to Claude Pro in a week-ish.
something that annoys the fuck out of me about Cursor is that if you right click in the terminal, it tells you to press βK to clear it, but when you press βK, you actually get a prompt input for a bash command
I can't describe how satisfying it is to have the AI plan something out, spending ~5-10 minutes going over that plan and nitpicking the shit out of it, and then pressing build. Your success rate is proportional to the amount of plan review you do, but I would say 90-95% of the time the AI nails it.
an effective tactic when dealing with people you've objectively wronged and who hate you, is to give them very specific instructions on how to get in or out of your good graces.
please donβt ask people if you can leave on your shoes when entering their apartment. it's rude.
when you are invited into a home, you need to let go. you can't be like, "i want to touch this" and "i have to keep my shoes on" and "iβm spilling this, fuck you." being a guest is respecting your host.
Every day of life under Trump is waking up to a headline like, βWyoming is missingβ

If youβre ever in a software meeting and want to seem knowledgeable, ask if something is orthogonal. Nobody knows what it means (or can), but everyone will recognize the lost look on the faces of your interlocutors. Power move.
I once single handed fucked up the cardinality of all our metrics and the Grafana guy called me out on Slack about it
I worked on this side project for like 2.5 years while at this fledgling startup, careful to avoid pushing commits so as not to violate my noncompete, only to have the company go tits up.
Nowadays, I push what I want when I please
weβre built different (in a bad way)
anybody want some JSON? I've got heaps...
message we just got from our grafana rep: "It looks like the SQS error message ran for a while, but stopped the. morning of 2/16. Given that, I expect you'll see a 4.6 TB savings starting when your consumption resets to zero at the end of the month."
4.6TB of error logs LMFAO
really cool that the FBI had multiple interviews with a woman who credibly accused donald trump of raping her, and Comey was like..."that fucking bitch Clinton!"
swap mangione with big balls
iran war update: trump has announced that he's renaming the strait of hormuz to the gay of hormuz
the computer is trying to save me.
a while back I tried to launch chrome on the work laptop by doing command+space+"ch"+enter, only it suggested Chess first, so Chess launched. Now, even if I type chrome quickly and press enter, the autocomplete thinks it's got my number as soon as it sees "CH", so I'm just launching chess all day.
what's the point of guarantees against data races when I have to take the compiler's word for it because I can't understand the code?
later in the video they give the Go equivalent of this code, and it's infinitely more readable and has no races
You literally cannot get these people to imagine a better world! Merely one that fucking sucks a little less. Cannot imagine life on the other side of the prison walls just another hour of rec time for the prisoners.
"what you're missing is that you can say 'operation await', and if it's okay you do this, but if there's an error you do that"
bro is impressed by a conditional π
this is like 6 lines of Go, btw
"Rust is great, but as soon as you bring async into the mix, it gets bad" ah, well good thing nobody needs to write asynchronous software in the year of our lord 2026 π

my Cursor account ends in 10 days and I've used 98% of my resources
brb, checking logs
(I think this was actually caused by node pool shenanigans yesterday. I went from a preemptible node on a single zone to a non-preemptible on any one of three zones, but there was a chunk of time where it spun up a node pool per zone)
