St Paddyβs day show on 82nd ave - the lordβs country
Shane Parish - Autechre guitar
Believe it or not Iβve never listened to Autechre. My appreciation of @shaneparish.bsky.social artistry was enough to sell me on this, and itβs beautiful
Mope Grooves - Box of Dark Roses
This record goes so many places and goes so hard. Musical exploration and militant liberation politics in a perfect mix here. The album title fits so well, each song is a dark rose
I had a lucid dream last night, such a wild thing. Dreams, whether they are fun or terrifying or something else, are among my favorite experiences in life. Feels like perceiving rare and inspirational truths
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
What an achingly beautiful record. Van has the most redeeming talent-to-crank ratio in the whole business. His performances are otherworldly
Shoes - Black Vinyl Shoes
This is maybe my fav record of the 70βs straight-ahead Power Pop movement. Crisply composed songs, shaggy homespun recordings. Would Power Pop Pop Pop approve?
Rosali - No Medium
This record hits so hard. No Medium indeed!

MF BAND has been out for 3 weeks and there are only a handful of tapes left! If you pay extra for the tape or buy a digital copy, that money goes to Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition. Grab 1 while they last. Thanks Bud Tapes! Thanks Skyler for producing! Thanks Zack for the cover art. Link in bio
Another great Modern Folk release. Among many other things that could be highlighted, this is one for those who like that OLD Beachwood Sparks-type sound that just doesn't seem to be around anymore. Highly recommended.
Edsel Axel st LP
Edsel Axel - solo/side project of the great Rosali. I believe made with just an amp, a guitar and a tascam 4-track. A celebration of guitar and electricity
Pharoah Sanders - Tauhid
One of my favorite PS records, playful melodies with Burrell and Sharrock on board!
These are moving fast! Get a tape soon if you want - of course the digital version will wait for you!
The New Eves - The New Eve Rising
Angry, weird, pulsing, blasting, chanting art punk gem. Thanks @superelectricrecs.bsky.social for playing it for me. Easy to say βRIYL The Raincoats or Kleenexβ but that doesnβt really tell the whole story
At the top of our daily BC charts today we have Shenandoah by @themodernfolk.bandcamp.com. Beautiful track, so well deserved!
Spoiler - IHN might have The Modern Folk record in our future. Stay tuned.

Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
A complete masterpiece. I feel like the role of the humble harmonica on this album is under discussed
One of my fave quotes from @themodernfolk.bandcamp.com
MJ Lenderman - Manning Fireworks
Took me a minute but I love this record. Glad Bre brought it home!
Whenever I hear βthe CIA funded abstract artβ or whatever Iβm like good, someone had to fund it
Obray Ramsey - Blue Ridge Banjo
Pretty sure I first heard this on my friend Nicβs blog GhostCapital back in the vinyl-rip-MP3 blog era. I discovered so much great music from those sources. Homespun 3-finger banjo ballads
Ramones - Rocket to Russia
The first band I was ever in, when I was about 17, we learned a bunch of early Ramones songs. These songs and Bob Dylanβs first LP are how I learned to play music
Losing count here
Iβve been making David Lynch inspired songs since Iβve been making songs at all. This 20 year old jam was among the first
Sons of the Pioneers - Riders in the Sky
I think my love of Sons of the Pioneers is my most conservative opinion
The Pixies - Doolittle
This record contains non-stop bangers, solidifying the pop credentials of Black Francis. This one really worked over my teenage mind
Arthur Russell - Calling Out Of Context
The funkiest works of humble genius
