We've haven't done one of these for a few months, so why not take a while to relive the (almost) complete edition of Live & Kicking from this day (7 March) in 1998.

It's time to play Blob A Job on 3 October 1998's L&K, and Jamie is about to experience the nightmare of a competition phone out on live television going horribly, horribly wrong.

Saturday Starts Here continued before each Going Live! but by mid January presenting duties had been handed off to Peter Simon and Trev & Simon.
SSH returned for a final run before the second series of Going Live! but with just Peter presenting.
At 8.25 on 26 September 1987, Saturday Starts Here made its debut to fill the hour or so before the start of the first Going Live!
This featured the first appearance of Trev & Simon, carrying a shark naturally, and again during the following link where the sound dropped off.

Yes, really. What do you mean you're not old enough to remember the first phone number?

Who remembers Dave and Steve from the People's Institute that featured on Going Live!?
Well, they may have just the ideal self-help package for you - 'You Can Memorise It' - at a bargain price!

The Racoons on this clip starts in vision before cutting to the credits and into the programme. Later progs had The Leps in vision over the Superman credits. Later still there was the CBBC pres from TC9 into CBBC ident/titles video insert on the A or B roll from that week.
It varied from week to week! There are examples from the weeks around this clip where there’s just studio audio or full network video and audio.
Here's another Saturday morning L&K trailer, this time from 25 February 1995.
There's 25 seconds of pre-broadcast footage on this one with the BBC1 network audio, and also an appearance from 'The Boss'...

Here's a trio of stings from the first series of Saturday Mash-Up! We've got the usual pink but also blue and green versions too.
SMU had a graphical revamp at the start of series 3 so this style of sting was retired.

Yesterday we posted the BBC TWO version of Electric Circus that would be also shown during the following day's L&K. Here's Dannii Minogue's intro from the Saturday 14 February version - easy to spot the difference!

If it's Friday then it must be time for another journey back to 1998.
The sixth edition of L&K Friday had guest Aaron Carter.

Trev & Simon's sketches were ALWAYS performed live, however there was a specific reason for the short pre-recorded element on this occasion - before the live chaos started!
Yes! He's appeared on 'Multi Coloured Saturdays' (first appearance is at 16:14) and we've also got his appearances on a couple of editions of 'Backstage' (which was on BBC CHOICE) talking about L&K. We've also met him several times!
