I am also generally trying to get my life back together after so many months of unbearable fatigue and illness, including examining my social media usage and where it's hindering me more than it is helping. I have a lot of changes happening in my life in the near future too.

I am still working on fursuit stuff, posting updates of it to my Telegram channel whenever I remember. Also working on finishing my art site for testing. Stuff's happening behind the scenes that I hope I can share soon.

I can't remember if I mentioned this here or not but I've been on semi-hiatus for about the past month or so because social media has been driving me a bit crazy lately. I'll still post artwork and fundraisers whenever I happen to be online but otherwise I'm going to be relatively quiet here.

I get you completely, and I'd easily take the opportunity to move elsewhere if I had it. My partner's from America, so there's not a chance I'm moving there because I wouldn't ever be able to afford paying for my own healthcare.

involves employees moving to Canada, or a high-level job that could easily get you immigrated to Canada. Otherwise, if you can't claim refugee status and you can't get into Canada any other way, then you won't be able to move here.

We are still very much in the researching process of them moving here and aren't anywhere close to it happening, but as far as I know, immigration isn't possible without either having family or being in a committed relationship with a Canadian citizen (through their sponsorship program), a job that-

They're transgender, and it'd speed up the process if they could claim refugee status from what's happening in the States. Otherwise I'm going to have to sponsor them as a commonlaw

Not to mention how many gender healthcare clinics are overwhelmed with referrals, to the point where waitlists can be several years long. You have to be incredibly lucky to find a general practitioner in Ontario as well, for example, because waitlists for those can be around 5 to 10 years.

As per the July 2025 Canadian Anti-Trans Risk Assessment Map, Alberta is already a danger zone, and provinces like Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia are at medium-to-high risk of becoming a "worst jurisdiction." Transphobia is unfortunately not American-only.

I wish I could say for certain that our government would be completely willing to do that for our community, but my expectations are on the floor considering how provinces like Alberta are already enacting anti-trans laws. We're not a safe haven for trans people in any regard, unfortunately.

I hope the government can allow trans people to come here as refugees. I just have concerns that Parliament isn't going to be willing to make such a decision because it would effectively burn bridges between us and the States for good if we declare them unsafe for trans people.

To my Canadian friends, an acquaintance started a petition to allow US transgender citizens to claim refugee status here.

And to be honest I find that "stop taking your meds" argument to be a form of discrediting Palestinian liberation. It sends the message that "Boycotting is too hard and doesn't work" because it's based on misinformation that frames boycotts as untargeted and not considerate of people's situations.

Other brands targeted by BDS that have seen successful results, like Ben & Jerry's and Pillsbury, are companies that have many alternatives, which helped people boycott them because these companies don't make necessities that you can't get anywhere else. It's not the same with medication.

I've had people tell me "Well if you want me to boycott McDonald's, then you should stop taking your medication since they're also made by Israel" as a gotcha against BDS, when that's not even the goal of these boycotts. You can't live without your meds, but you can live without McDonald's.
