Most importantly - thank you so much to Dieudrice (in the picture), Eustache and Juliette for walking in the jungle for many hours and many days to make this research possible.
Thank you so much to my lab @eegcam.bsky.social and especially Andrea Manica, as well as to the Human Evolutionary Ecology Group in Zurich, and all the collaborators involved in all the steps of this journey π₯°. I feel very very grateful!
π¨π§¬New preprint!π§ͺπ¨"Cultural norms of exogamy and mobility shape hunter-gatherer genetic evolution".
We used demographic, genomic and mobility data from two hunter-gatherer populations to investigate how they mitigate negative fitness consequences of inbreeding.

@pratikkatte.bsky.social and I just released Lorax π², a tool for interactive exploration of biobank-scale ancestral recombination graphs (ARGs).
If youβve ever wanted to scroll across the ancestries of thousands of genomesβ¦ this is for you.
I showed that image this week in one of my lectures indeed (and no Darwin phylogeny) π

Hadza food-sharing is egalitarian, yet offers in giving games have never matched the equitable redistribution seen in real life.
In this study, we allowed people to give *or* take. Lifelike equitable distributions only appeared when people took from peers in surplus.
