AI error or not, Iran school bombing is a permanent stain on America’s soul | Will Bunch A debate on AI in warfare obscures the truth about an Iran school bombing. U.S. humans are to blame for this war crime.

They had names. They had beautiful faces. And they had the same dreams as your kids - crushed when American "precision" bombs slammed into their Minab elementary school, killing 175

Don't blame AI for this. Blame the sick humans who see war as a game

Today on International Women's Day I thought about my lost girlhood and womanhood in Baghdad. How my youth was wasted.
I'll turn 40 years old this year and I am left with the horrifying realisation that I've spent the past 40 years in Baghdad just trying to survive. I haven't actually lived at all.

UK must stockpile food in readiness for climate shocks or war, expert warns Prof Tim Lang says country produces far less food than it needs to feed population and is particularly vulnerable

This problem really pisses me off. Eating from the supermarket feels necessary for a lot of people. It's a bit cheaper. It's less time consuming than sourcing food around the country. Than attempting to garden in our short growing season. But we, as consumers, need to also consider our food choices.

I've been saying for almost 2 decades now that it should the current paradigm of "AI" acting as a helpmeet to fascism should be no surprise, when the drivers of fascismβ€” militarism, capitalism, carcerality, white supremacy, &cβ€” are the soil, the water, & roots from which this idea of "AI" was grown.

Dorsey's blunt AI warning sharpens debate over jobs and profits Jack Dorsey is not the first chief executive to say artificial intelligence will transform work. He may be among the first to act as if it already has - and to say so openly.

AI is not the only 'tool' in this article.

Earth's heat to produce electricity for homes in UK clean energy first Water super-heated by rocks will also provide the UK's first domestic supply of the critical mineral lithium.

There we are, the little nugget of truth:

"GEL will also be able to extract lithium carbonate, as well as heat, from the fluid underground – the first commercial source of the 'critical mineral' in the UK and crucial for the production of electric batteries."

The palace are promoting the idea of Andrew's 'mental health' story to ensure there's a suitable explanation when he's 'suicided'.

Which is intended to end the whole episode and ensure no other family members, past or present, are called to account for their actions.

Me inking on a wall as part of the Cheltenham paint festival a few years ago which I’m hoping is back on this year. It’s a street art festival where the public can walk around town and see the artists make art in real time! I used Posca pens and I think it took about 12 hours

Poem 'Epitaph on a tyrant' by WH Auden

Poem 'Epitaph on a tyrant' by WH Auden

W H Auden (1939) responding to the rise of fascism

The final couplet is brutal and brilliant

The juxtaposition of laughing & crying, his tears are not empathy but triggers of violence

Not naming the tyrants make this feel less like history, more like prophecy

Today I'll be arguing that AI tools (specifically LLMs and AI agents) are NOT the future of health and social science but are more likely to be the death of health and social science.

Here's a sneak peak slide with the main components of my argument.

The computer hardware shortage continues:

2024: GPU
2025: GPU, Memory, and Storage
2026: GPU, Memory, Storage, and CPU

The Driver: Reinforcement Learning now requires 10,000s of concurrent VMs to simulate, verify, and "roll out" agentic reasoning. Furthermore, there is this rise of AI agents...

Apart from government reluctance to burden industry with finding a solution, the whole PFAS issue reminds me of the banning of illegal street drugs.

Change the formulation slightly, and you're back to square one, which suggests the incremental method of banning will be ineffective.
