Rugby punt coming down is significantly different than an NFL punt (mainly because a rugby ball is much more rounded, whereas an NFL ball is like a tiny hateful missile)

On the one hand, yes, dick move by me, but on the other hand, don’t ask me to do my job to the best of my ability and then get upset when I do it. I respect their skills, the least they can do is respect mine

The biggest issue with catching a punt is that you’re unlikely to have ever seen a ball come down like that before in your life, so there’s no frame of reference to judge where you should be to catch it. A couple hundred reps and you’d probably get at least half.

He was gruff but fair, which I respected

Holmgren had a strict no-hazing policy, surprisingly enough. Very progressive for a coach at that time

Blue black white, I’m a real jerk

I caught passes from Favre during warmups in practice so I think I’d be ok (I also played baseball and soccer (as a goalie) growing up at a pretty high level so I have soft hands)

Thankfully the guy catches it (he was another rookie), because looking back, I’m pretty sure they would’ve killed me if I made them run more.

Good times.

(The other guy was Leo Araguz, our ST coach was Bob Casullo)

Anyways, the o-line comes up to me as the rest of the team moves to the sideline and they’re like β€œyou better make this easy to catch.”

I give them my normal shiteating grin, and say β€œsure.”

Absolutely skyrocket the punt, because idgaf.

Fun story!

My rookie year during preseason when I was with Seattle, it was the end of practice and Holmgren called for a punter to hit one to an o-lineman.

If the o-lineman caught it, we didn’t have to do conditioning.

I was the punter chosen, because our ST coach and other guy were elsewhere.

I absolutely loved the β€œtry and catch a punt” fan portion of training camp, but I’m also kind of an asshole

Unfortunately not, though we can always make a new one!

It’s not the concussion you have to worry about, it’s when you misjudge the angle of the ball coming down and it slips between your arms and augers into your groin.

Or so I’ve been told by Vikings fans at preseason camp.

...any of the thousands of US Navy members current and former who have transited the Strait of Hormuz while Iran trolled the ship for shits and giggles can describe for you at least 3 ways they can close the Strait without attending any briefing.

Yeah for sure, but I can respect Iran’s right to exist while also telling them β€œno, you can’t sit down and play in my store if you’re gonna be an asshole to the LGBTQ+ community and that’s a *you* problem”

An entire generation has been convinced online that Kobe Bryant was β€œfound innocent,” and I cannot express how much that did not happen.

His victim stopped cooperating with prosecutors because she was getting so much harassment, and he begged her to settle.

So many average citizens have stood up to Trump.

Alex Pretti went to the street to protect his fellow humans, who the Trump regime was harming. He lost his life for it. Renee Good lost her life for resisting.

And sorry, butβ€”these fucking cowards in the Senate can’t vote against Trump nominees?
