Our school district does not offer buses except for very specific circumstances. And not everyone lives within walking distance of their schools - it takes us 15 minutes to go the half mile with our two young elementary school kids, and we live closer than 90% of the school's population.

I once flew in a 6 or 8 seater (I don't remember exactly) from Block Island, RI and they actually weighed us. I sat in the copilot's seat!
