Sherlock: The Whole Shebang (2010-2017)
First: It’s already been nine years since this ended??? Second: Still a good watch, even if the pacing is a mess within seasons and the quality of the writing changes dramatically. Study in Pink is still the quintessential example on how to start a series.
Hollow Knight: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Still one of the greatest games of all time. The calm feeling of wandering and getting lost combined with responsive controls and immaculate audiovisuals never cease to amaze. I like it more than Silksong, but there is no reason not to love both.
Tove Jansson: Vaarallinen juhannus
Muumikirjoja on tullut luettua hävettävän vähän, vaikka tämäkin tarina on tuttu muista mediamuodoista. Emman palopuhe teatterista jäi erityisesti mieleen, ja pidin kirjasta kovasti.

Another good game of 2025. Simple puzzling with increasing difficulty, comfy audiovisuals and overall a joy to play. Heartfelt recommendation.

Nälkäpelit luettu kiinni. Tässä osassa on muutama cameo liikaa ja kaikkea väännetään turhan lujaa rautalangasta. Ihan viihdyttävä opus, mutta ei lähellekään hypen ja hehkutuksen arvoinen.
Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone: Tällä tavalla hävitään aikasota
Melkoinen pettymys. Sekavaa juonenkuljetusta paikataan mielenkiintoisella konseptilla, mutta sekamelska ei kanna loppuun asti.
Britney Spears: Nainen minussa
Spearsin tarina ja kokemukset ansaitsevat tulla kerrotuksi, mutta muutaman sivun luvut ja ontuva kerronta ja tyyli tekevät tästä heikon lukukokemuksen. Jennette McCurdy teki tämän kirjan, mutta kirjoitti sen huomattavasti paremmin.
Sidenote: It was very amusing to see the audience reaction to Ep2 when it aired, repeating the same conversation from when the game launched, multiplied by people’s love for Pedro Pascal. I still like the twist for all the possibilities and emotional nuances it gives to the story.
The Last of Us S2 (2025)
The first season told the quintessential video game story in a convincing way. The second season adapt Part II and retains the good and the bad, telling a cruel story about love and vengeance. Kaitlyn Denver is the star of the show, and I can’t wait to see her in Season 3.
Taxing effects? We can expand the term too for specific things (eg. Hand-taxing, resource-taxing etc)
Promising Young Woman (2020)
This didn’t quite do it for me. The theme and many of its scenes are really good, but it doesn’t work as a whole. Tension is built well but the release feels a bit erratical and unfulfilling.

Paluu Nälkäpeliin jälkijunassa oli kiinnostava. Ensimmäinen esiosa on herkkä, ruma ja hyvin kirjoitettu. Se kertoo yhden version siitä, miten julmuuteen kasvetaan. Siitä, miten äärimmäistä diktatuuri voi olla.

Umm… This would’ve been in my Top 5 games of last year. I guess it is now? Credits seen, only starting with everything the game has to offer.
M. L. Rio: If We Were Villains
A slow burn Dark Academia murder mystery with theatre students. Stays tense (and a bit over-the-top dramatic) until the end. An excellent read.
Sylvain Runberg: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Now I’ve seen two movie adaptations and read one comic. Maybe I’ll actually read the book someday. Story works in this medium too, although the end feels more rushed.
Wicked (2024)
Rewatched with friends, had a lot more little details to focus on. Still a good movie, but rating dropped a bit.
Travis Baldree: Brigands & Breadknives
Less cozy and more traditional fantasy than Legends & Lattes, but the warm feeling and skillful writing are still here. Great read!
Tove (2020)
A beautiful film about the artist and person behind the Moomins. Slow, honest, and embracing art.

GOTY 2025: Hades II
Huhhuh. Vielä edellistä koukuttavampi ja kaavaa laajentavampi peli Hades ykköseen nähden. Silkkaa pelillistä riemua. Indiejuhlaa ei voi estää!

Vuosien odotuksen jälkeen Silksong on juuri niin hyvä kuin sen pitikin. Se on laaja, vaikea, sulava ja upean näköinen. Kaikkea mitä vuoden peliltä odotin, enkä uskonut, että mikään voisi sitä voittaa. Kunnes…
3. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Vuoden indiehelmi häviää GOTY-kisan. Audiovisuaalinen ihme toimii roolipelinä ja tarinana todella hyvin, mutta siitä puuttui se pieni huuma, mitä kaksi muuta indiehelmeä saivat aikaan.
4. Dispatch
Paluista puheenollen: Telltale-veteraanit kehittivät melkoisen hyvän supersankaripelin. Hyvät hahmot, kiva managerointipeli ja loistava huumori eivät aivan riitä kärkikolmikkoon tänä vuonna, mutta siinä ei ole mitään hävettävää.
