This is, to put it mildly, a double standard. This guy was part of a government that encouraged online social media figures to engage in routine harassment of government employees to the point that many were fired or went into hiding. Some of it was done by Elon Musk, this guy's boss.

In the same 24 hours that a KC-135 tanker, it's 6 crew members and (by mere feet) nearly at least one other KC-135, were lost... Hegseth: Ramping up and only up.

Here's the last 36 hours of tanker flights over Israel and Jordan, including the 2 that collided.

47 tankers.

Our crews are tired.

Just having them ashore needing resupply is like a self-writing Iranian CONOPS. And it's unclear they can affect you in any way from there, so maybe just let them sit there, lob missiles at them, and let them risk lightly protected low density capabilities trying to get supplies in and remains out.

Especially if you can film the despair with drones.

Hostage Crisis or Beirut Bombing 2.0.

Both options suck, and are spectacularly bad politically for Trump.

I'd kill the invading force, not negotiate with it. Infrastructure is worthless once you compromise sovereignty.

That's black letter strategy.

Iran doesn't have to threaten every vessel in the straight of Hormuz to paralyze commercial shipping. It just has to create enough risk that companies don't want to sent their vessels in. It doesn't take much.

Trump's threatening to wipe out the oil infrastructure on Kharg Island, which is key to Iran's ability to export oil. That seems like it would make every problem he's trying to solve exponentially worse.

Instead of a military solution, I think you'll actually see instead a realignment regionally and away from the US. At this point, it is more reasonable and possible to negotiate with Iran. And given the local costs the US is incurring on their behalf, it will look very appealing soon.

I wouldn't argue there has been any "preventing" the PRC from dallying in Middle Eastern waters. (A number of reasons.)

I do think talking about such things drives relative budgets.

I'm not sure what interest there is for PLAN in the Gulf now. Workshopping new capabilities on Main is dumb.

Entire families wiped out and towns emptied as Israel’s war on Lebanon intensifies Communities displaced and destroyed while death toll rises faster than during any previous war in Lebanon For Batoul Hamdan and her two children, seven-month-old Fatima and Jihad, three, Monday’s iftar, the evening meal that breaks the daily fast during Ramadan, was special.
