Can someone please make a Get into Teaching advert, using clips of the school in Netflix's Adolescence.
It's quite realistic.

Good , they don't actually fly. π
This one.
We did a group walking tour of Sophia Hagia and palace it was brilliant. Don't buy a carpet. π
Rep of Ireland do 167 days at secondary, it's a well educated country. They're doing fine on less than us.
I quite like the theory that Barabas was Jesus's son. Bar Abbas. Son of the father, and that's why the crowd shouted for him. Then this was reinvented to suit the gospel writers' theology of sacrificial death etc.
I want strategies for supporting a child who is one of 30 not one of 3 or 4.
Particularly if the child has social and emotional needs. Showing me 1 to 1 techniques is not a realistic help for a class teacher.
Yes, that's must.
Aid to the Church in Need have some resources.
All Catholic 6th Forms have stuff. We do medical ethics, social justice issues such as human trafficking, ethical issues linked to social media, sexism in religions
I think it can be easier to ask controversial questions about your own religion. I can say as a Catholic that most of RC teaching on sexual ethics e.g. contraception, is disregarded by Catholics today and get the discussion going as to why etc. I love when they ask how I can question x and be RC
I was a bit hmm that she is sent to a Catholic school not aware that they are Christians. But yes the happy thing is also intetesting. Mass can be joyful.
The Church never burned anyone , weird people in villages who had grudges against individual women for random prejudiced reasons burned their neighbours. Like cancelling today.
I do too,but our kids don't . π
Also some of the Catholic content is difficult and not as engaging compared to Christianity content. Magisteruim, Vatican 2 for example.
In our diocese , it's eduqas, and we're the biggest RC diocese.
But no figures for eduqas B here.
Dispiriting discussion with a Y7.
She couldn't understand how Catholics were Christians. She is Christian, but Catholics are not. Their view was that Christians are happy and have worship music,.but Catholics have hymns and are sad and Mass is quiet and sad. π’
What are diocese doing to encourage /support Catholics to become RE teachers? How are they using theologians in Catholic universities/ seminaries to support A Level or GCSE students? How do they celebrate the input, passion and knowledge of our Catholic RE teachers ? Maybe ask those questions too.
Which may be data that questions the argument that teachers don't push students from less affluent or educated backgrounds to go onto uni or to achieve top grades. Lots of teachers see ourselves in these students and are not biased against them.
Agreed, the Catholic content is solid and very boring.
Weirdly though the grade boundaries for the 'Catholic Schools ' combination of papers for Edexcel have the lowest grade boundaries of all the combinations 139 /204 for a 9
What is going on with that?
Yes, it's next up. Need more of the same.
This week I read Phoebe the woman mentionedby Paul, thoroughly recommend. Fiction based on the letters and research.
