i could definitely use one for my weekly trip to town and back- 50km. cost is the issue. my ice vehicle uses 4 litres per 100km, and cost under $1000 2nd hand. it's 1986 vintage and i can work on it myself when needed. completely analog, it was the 1st production engine assembled by robots.

i critized him in the past when was an mp. i voted for him as mayor. he was the best person for the job and with rohan as deputy they made a great team. he's also got zero tolerance for cookers and knows how to deal to them effectively. he's not idle and has a wide range of contacts.

allis chalmers roto baler, to be precise I like the aerodynamic shape- really gives it some class:)
the frame of the firewood saw is also off the same baler.

a mate built one out of 1300cc car engine. bloody unpleasant to use.
there is a knack to using this, it's a tad underpowered but knife redesign and another v belt will do for now. 4kw would be ideal, 6 pole.

thank you! ( also beautifully quiet- no earmuffs needed, no neighbours annoyed )

a years firewood cut over 2 weekends. used a battery chainsaw to fell and cut the wood, the splitter is also electric. no hydrocarbons used. feeling very virtuous.

with a ruptured pec you can't chop firewood. so i built a log splitter out of shit lying around the yard.
gearbox= otis elevator lift winch out of griffins biscuit factory, circa 1930, steel= Crewenna pottery kiln bogie rails, old haybaler parts, motor= 1950's White drum sander ( 3hp)

i'm as dismissive of pronouns as i am of astrological star signs, however i can understand why they are so important to some people. human identity is such a fickle thing, we are essentially just stories we make up about ourselves, with some script provided. some ppl struggle with that notion.

09.03.2026 07:46 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

i'm not sure, i don't follow the logic myself actually, possibly for reasons divulged earlier, possibly english wasn't my first language, possibly both, and highly likely prejudice ie= (assailant is male, therefore he )

if there is an ambiguity somewhere- in instructions on how to assemble something, or directions to a destination, or a sentence ' on monday he said he'd bring it' i will home in on the wrong take. it's an adhd thing apparently:)

09.03.2026 07:23 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

yes, that's a clanger to me also, not as profound as a eg a story which gives a person's name and refers to they, or a photo of a (1) person described as they.

09.03.2026 07:18 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

the disjunction that occurs when i encounter the non binary pronoun 'they' lies in what i perceive as an ambiguity, as i've tried to explain. i struggle to process that ambiguity. that's an issue with me, not you. it's not that i don't understand pronoun use, i'm just not interested is all.

i should clarify i guess: the practice of publicly identifying oneself with a chosen pronoun is a relatively recent trend, largely confined to the liberal west.

09.03.2026 04:10 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

the difficulty i have is when i read eg an article, i see one person, and then i read they and think wait did i miss something/someone and then go back, re read and see the singular person is referring to themself as they. it's a relatively recent phenomenon.

09.03.2026 03:49 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

my brain struggles to process the they pronoun.
also, if you are they, why do refer to yourself as i, and not we?

there. pleased i've got that off my chest

More than 180 authors quit writers' week. Many returned for a DIY replacement Constellations emerged from the ashes of Adelaide Writers' Week, which was cancelled after authors withdrew over censorship. Organisers share how it came together and lessons for the future.

We stood together against anti-Palestinian racism and they cancelled our festival. So we organised our own.

Very tired now, but very proud of Constellations!

Great in depth coverage from Hannah Story here
