Photo of a beautiful camellia japonica flower, a light pink with lots of concentric petals. It's on a green background of foliage and a hand is holding the flower steady for the camera.

Microsoft SQL Query Analyzer was the pinnacle. Fast as heck on the most modest hardware, clean design, 0 bloat, no silly wizards or "helpful" features that get in the way of power users. A thing of beauty.
The worst is anything that has the ribbon interface (Office 2007 onwards) ๐คฎ
I think it's fair to say it was still finding its footing in the first series, but it really starts to gel as the characters develop.
Would recommend giving it a go.
One of my favourite ever shows. Unfortunately flew under just about everyone's radar.
"They will join the esteemed ranks of founding partners - Accenture..."
It's ok, you can stop there.
Me too.
Listening to R4 while making trifle on Christmas Eve is becoming a tradition.
Pity the two couldn't have been combined.

Thanks for the tip.
I always have a reserved seat so thankfully it's not a worry for me, but I feel for the less seasoned travellers who think they have a minute to get to the far end of the train!
The Euston departure board showing the 1413 to Manchester Piccadilly, with a warning that doors will close 2 minutes before departure.
14:11 at Euston.
Train leaving at 14:13
Boarding shortly
Doors will close 2 minutes before departure
It's no wonder people panic.
Repeating warnings about not running on the tannoy while the board makes it sound like you need to sprint.
About time. There's so much repetition that can be easily solved with a set of generic, reusable services.
A good bin calendar would be most welcome. I'd even submit a PR that adds .ics support!
โThe elected chamber has approved assisted dying and it has the support of most voters. It will be disgraceful if it fails to become law because it is โtalked outโ by a clique of unelected peers.โ Great piece by @andrewrawnsley.bsky.social
My first computer was an Acorn 3000 and still to this day I only really use keyboards with a correctly-positioned CTRL key as a result (HHKB). Fun memories.
Excellent job on the restoration ๐
I had to leave Co-op business bank because their website didn't work with Firefox.
I was repeatedly told by their support staff that "Firefox is supported but Chrome is more supported" ๐ฎโ๐จ
My home town bank too, what a pity.
A garage with rickety shelves, timber leaning against the wall and tools and gardening equipment strewn across the floor. 3/4 of the garage is inaccessible because of the mess.
The same garage, now with neat, deep shelving down the left hand side. The shelves are full of tidily arranged tools and storage boxes. The floor is clear and the rugs are visible.

An Android app grid with boxes around the GOV UK app and the One Login app, both with similar icons being 10 places apart.
One Login should be filed under GOV.UK One Login, having them so far apart in the app grid is confusing.
Google have the right idea with One being called Google One.
Yep, one of these.

Iโm thrilled to be able to share with you a project Iโve been working on this year. Intimate Histories, a series of 5 essays Iโve written and recorded about the antidote to โGreat Man Historyโ is dropping on BBC Radio 4 (and i player) from the 3rd of Nov at 11:45 each morning.

We are awarding our President's Medal to 'In Our Time' as it has done so much to showcase humanities & social sciences. We'd decided this before the news of Melvyn Bragg stepping down, but glad we got our timing right & had a chance to celebrate with him!

A home made Margherita pizza on a wooden garden table with a peel in the background.
For the most part no, but there are a few exceptions.
Watching Uncle Roger has definitely upped my egg fried rice game, and Vito Iacopelli basically taught me everything I know about pizza dough, which I'm alright at.
"VW sources indicate this is a localised issue" - well now it's being covered in the national media, maybe not for long!

I wanted everything to be on premise so went with Unifi.
It's a little more expensive and you need to be able to put in ethernet cables, but it's guaranteed subscription free forever and it supports third party cameras now.
If it's just CCTV, this is ideal

I'd be wary of Eufy, they were caught uploading data without telling customers (albeit a few years ago)

Unifi is the way to go.

Excellent news!
