This morning, Rep. Sandra Hollins announced that she will not be running for re-election to the House next year. She has diligently served the people of her district, and of our state, for a decade, and we thank her for her dedication and hard work. She will be missed!
Thousands of Utahns are facing insurance premium increases that they simply can’t afford, all thanks to Trump and our GOP representatives in Congress. At a time when the cost of living is already a huge burden on families, this is going to be devastating. We deserve action from our leaders.

Last night’s Senate vote may have been a step towards ending the government shutdown, but it did nothing to address the pressing issues facing Utahns. Let’s not forget that this all started because Donald Trump and the Republican Congress, including all six of Utah’s delegation, chose to shut down the government rather than work with Democrats to stop healthcare costs from skyrocketing. Utahns need real relief from rising costs, but this latest deal sidesteps the issue and gives Republicans a blank check to continue undermining healthcare and hurting everyday people. Thank you to the majority of congressional Democrats who are committed to holding the line and continuing to fight for working people, while Trump hands out billions of dollars in tax cuts to the wealthiest individuals and corporations, builds a $350 million ballroom, and hosts extravagant parties at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump is building a $350 million ballroom while Utah families go hungry
While Utah families worry about losing SNAP benefits thanks to Trump’s government shutdown, he’s busy bulldozing history – by fast-tracking a luxury $350 million ballroom at the White House ignoring every approval process along the way.
Same story as always: the rules don’t apply to him.

This is going to be a tough time for our communities, and we all need to find ways to show up for each other. Donate to food banks, check in on your neighbors, and continue contacting your representatives and urging them to stop holding crucial assistance hostage and reopen the government.
Because of the Republican shutdown, Utah families will stop receiving SNAP benefits on November 1st. This will literally take food off the tables of almost 90,000 Utah families, all because Trump and congressional Republicans won’t come to the table to negotiate.
