"How's the election in Canada going?" You may ask...

The amount of times I've had to explain to people this week that their *opinion* on whether or not a policy proposal is blatantly unconstitutional doesn't change the fact that it is in fact unconstitutional makes me want to auto-defenestrate.

Poilievre Stop in Fish Plant Smells | Canadian Journalist Conservative Party of Canada election campaign stop in a fishing village in Newfoundland turns into a spectacle of party animosity towards media coverage.

If Pierre Poilievre will let his staff rough up and threaten members of the media while he's campaigning, it's not hard to imagine the way he'd run Canada. His inspiration is an American tyrant, and it shows.

Hard to say PP would "fight for Canada" when he's spent his entire leadership fighting against the Canadian national interest and identity. When you have elected conservatives directly calling for the US to interfere in our election, they lost the right to say they love our country.

If the @americanbar.org and the US #Lawsky community are not out on the streets enforcing regime change after this, the practice of law and the administration of justice in the United States is a farce. This is an insult to the fabric of justice, and an assault on any who dare question Fuhrer Trump.

Mutual recognition of law licences: A step toward greater access to justice? | Daniel J. 🚨 Mutual Recognition of Law Licenses? 🚨

With Canada calling for nationwide credential recognition, the legal profession must grapple with self-regulation, mobility, and what it means to practice law.

The unfortunate reality is unless we get an influx of lawyers willing to take on SDRCC files probono, they're generally unattractive from a business perspective.

That is, of course, to say the fact that the practice of law is reduced to a "business perspective" is abhorrent.

All I can say to this, honestly, is #BackOff or #BuckOff. We will never be rid of this orange menace until he understands that #Canada does not bend, it does not break.

If you can't handle the #tradewar you've showboated for months, you're not qualified to act like a bully in the schoolyard.

No. No more "pause", no more moving goal posts. #Canada has had enough of living under the looming threat of a trade war that Vice President Trump is clearly afraid of. Canada should keep our tariffs until this stops for good

What's wrong, bud? I thought you didn't need anything we had? Too scared?

Reframing Legal Technology From institutional efficiency to user-centric access to justice

Is our perspective of #LegalTech wrong?

In my latest #substack piece, I suggest that we reframe not only how we view legal technology, but how we view legal process design as a whole.

For anyone who needs to hear this today:

I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

🚨 New article in #Law360Canada! 🚨

Legal tech should empower users, not just streamline courts. Too often, it reinforces barriers instead of breaking them. How do we shift to a user-centred approach?

It's a fair criticism, and I was on the fence about both. I tried to limit it to Canadian companies, and it was difficult to exclude TR. LEAP was a good catch, I had to go down a small rabbithole to find more info.

How outdated tech hurts criminal courts Higher courts fear virtual shift

How Outdated Tech Hurts Criminal Courts: now on #Substack!

What happens when #judges from different levels of #court disagree on the value of #LegalTech? Chronic underinvestment where it counts.

Let's talk about it: open.substack.com/pub/danielje...

2-2 for #TFClive in DC. Bernadeschi and Corbeneau are a dynamic duo up front, but our midfield loses possession so much it's forcing our back line to try long passes that they're clearly not comfortable with. We need a strong midfield playmaker.

23.02.2025 02:57 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Halftime for #TFClive and all I can say is Corbeneau is exactly what we needed up front, but it's blatantly obvious he has no support from the midfield. Also painful to watch our backline. Scoring goals is important, but preventing them is even moreso.
