Mariah Carey also talked to Billboard:
“When asked why she deserves to be welcomed into the Hall of Fame, she answers with a laugh, ‘I would say they should check out the 19 [Billboard Hot 100] No. 1s… not everybody has those to their name.’” www.billboard.com/music/pop/ma...
It won’t happen. The CMHoF just doesn’t work like that.

It is now highly likely that New Edition or Pink will win the fan vote. Phil Collins lead has been steadily dwindling since day 2 and is now projected to finish in 3rd place.
Luther, INXS, Billy Idol, and Sade should round out the top 7.
Voting continues for another 3 weeks.
Ah, thanks! It's been fixed.

In the Rock Hall Fan Vote, the battle for first place is officially on. In just the last 24 hours, New Edition cut Phil Collins's lead from 35,000 down to 25,000. Pink fans have also made a strong push this week.
Towards the bottom of the standings, Shakira is gaining some momentum.
The vote hacking and botting are bad enough when it means next to nothing.
The People's Choice Awards exist if you want that.
As discussed in this post, the Nominating Committee is *finally* nearing gender parity (45% in 2025). Imposing term limits gives them a chance to have these lines intersect.
Good analogy. It is still just one vote out of 1200+
Last year, Phish ran away with the Fan Vote. With their performance from 2025, they would only be in *12th place* this year.
The Rock Hall's strategy of gamifying the Fan Vote appears to have worked. Daily votes are up more than 400% from what they were getting at this time last year. Multiple fan bases have been activated, with three different artists receiving the most votes in a single day.

To meet reader demand, here’s who I voted for on my 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Ballot last week, and related thoughts on the subject (including on everybody nominated, whether I voted for them or not. Do I have opinions, or what??) If I don’t agree with my votes, why should you?
