I did a thermo session once and it looked irritated a few days later and asked about it, and they had me come in for a cataphoresis pass to calm it down.

I'm within spitting distance of paying off my mortgage and being completely debt free, but I'm not yet into "fuck this career, I can support my family on my writing" territory.

So, unfortunately: take the training and be a good cog, but update my resume and start practicing my interview skills.

Either way, I have to wonder how my career's going to look in the next decade. I can smell company-wide mandatory AI coding training on the horizon. I've heard about other companies instituting mandatory 'you must use the AI to increase your productivity' policies. Weird time to be a SWE.

Same coworker has no problem automating his job away via an AI agent. I wonder if this is because he fundamentally doesn't consider programming to be a creative role? I still have the self respect to do so, so I stay away from AI even for drudge work, but I can see that angle.

A coworker recently mentioned that a friend had shown him some sort of AI-generated media, and he'd told the friend off because his spouse is a creative in that medium. Great!

I think the dark matter analogy holds. You have to study how the rest of the text behaves and why not everything quite adds up to infer the properties of the nearby subtext.

That, and most people don't understand what it is, even if they think they do (probably me on both counts tbh).

I have to assume that's an ND trait I lucked out of. I'm not, like, amazing at deciphering subtext but I can at least understand the concept.
