A little overwhelmed to see ‘25 Peppercorns’ on the BSFA’s Best Short Fiction shortlist.
I cried for three days when this story came out. It meant so much to me to be able to give life to these feelings, and I’m grateful to all the readers who voted for it.

Someone told me recently they read one of my short stories and had absolutely zero clue what was going on. I enjoyed that they put the work in to get to all the way to the end to still have zero clue.

But, truly, they’re entirely spot on. It’s short, the MC is complicated, and there are babies. They did a great job of seeing the book. The reader just didn’t like any of it. It’s wild.
Got my first two star review on good reads. They didn’t like any of the slow burn, unreliable narrator, parenting dystopia that make the book what it is. I feel like a proud mama!
