Even in the dim light, Frederick glimpsed the pus oozing sores and bloody fissures covering the exposed skin of both men. The disgust he felt was primal. Magic was a disease, and some animalistic part of him feared the sickness was catching. More than that, he’d seen what magicians could do on the battlefield.
