tbh, thought the ref was by and large ok. There were 3 key decisions, all effectively by VAR - failure to review lufc penalty (dodgy); disallowing lufc goal (correct); award of safc penalty (marginal, especially annoying compared to citeh game). We didn't threaten enough and they got lucky (again).

That scaling advantage assumes HBO Max subs aren't all Paramount+ subs already (typically via grandfathered plans from their cable/satellite/etc provider)

Hard on Birmingham, they were the better side. Well done Perri.

Still convinced, more than ever, we should have taken Phillips in the window. FB not helped by the general lack of ball winners in that starting midfield though.

The fact he's not got any better as the midfield around him has slightly improved says a lot.

Difficult to figure out which of the #lufc middle 5 is the most disappointing but I'm giving Longstaff extra disappointment points for wasting set pieces.

Feels from the commentary like TNT is showing the West Ham game with the intention of syndicating it to WHUTV. Course it was a red. TBH feels like West Ham staying in cup and taking a straight red on a key player is a good result for us though #lufc

I'd be surprised - they're hoping to grab Tuchel or Pochettino after the World Cup* So I can't see them getting in a "proper" manager as a temp.
* assuming they're still in the EPL, otherwise presumably Mark Robins, Nathan Jones, etc.

Notice De Zerbi just left Marseille (mutual consent, sounds more like a sacking as they just got pasted by PSG) - Paixao was bought specifically to play his system and has languished ๐ค

PSR rules change next year and were also punitive of Burnley and Leeds (Sunderland got a bye due to coming up so quickly from L1); that winds down going forward so for PSR the pressure drops I think. We only had 60% of the starting allowance of a non-promoted team (this is from vague memory tbc).

Arsenal have a far more expensive squad than us, having done well out of PL/UCL football (and up until 2018, Russian oligarch blood money) but it also feels like Farke misjudged tactics and personnel on this one #lufc

Not sure whether this was the notorious one where he got stuck on a train with some Leeds fans and furtively turned in a piece about how much he'd always hated Leeds. Anyhow, think he's a West Ham fan, so karma is coming.

From YEP: "Farke lost Sebastiaan Bornauw to a possible adductor strain at the break during the victory but believes the injury to be minor. When asked if it highlighted a need for a centre-back signing in the January window, he insisted he was happy with his options."
