Things are terrible but got to visit this painting in person recently. It was smaller than I expected. Really amazing though - a masterpiece. It’s not just the thews. It’s the color and design. We owe Frazetta a lot in very basic ways.

About eight years ago, I got paid $1000 to write an essay on Conan — then I presented that essay as a workshop at the Edinburgh Book Festival.
That felt like *my* golden age, rather than anything more generalisable.
It’s also not knowledge, which is annoying. It’s just text. That’s it.
“A.I. chatbots contain the sum of all human knowledge” is so egregiously wrong that I don’t know what to say.
Chatbots have been trained on corpus of digital(ised) text - ABSOLUTELY NOT the sum of all human knowledge. Paper, experience, embodiment, oral tales all missing.
These people are fools!
If I were bringing to a close my time as the leader of a federal party, I simply wouldn’t say such things.
