of the people i grew up with, almost everyone i know mostly did college because it got you a degree which was required of you and also you got to have fun for four years. a subset of them took out loans that were anchors on the rest of their lives
i sympathize with the risks to cognition. kinda in same ways i fear the effects of social media on mine. but a huge part of why this is a crisis for higher education is a bit worse than that β most people aren't there to develop critical thinking skills...
