I just found out @bigtranscowgirl.bsky.social passed away recently and I'm pretty devastated.
Rest in peace.
I wish I wasn't so preoccupied with myself last month. I really, really regret not communicating with them when I saw their post on fighting cancer.

Yeah, because it seems like it's the only way to survive as an NSFW artist, or a game dev, or an animator, basically anyone who does fictional NSFW work. Can't rely on Patreon, SubscribeStar or anyone else if they all use the same payment processors, which caused these issues to begin with.
And be niche enough that it flies under their radar for some time. Until either you or someone else makes a friendlier payment processor.

You're correct, however there is a risk you need to take for it until a much better solution comes up. Because your option is essentially. You do nothing and lose everything if whatever platform owner takes down your stuff (or comply and ruin your work). OR you make it your own for now.
There are brilliant people out there that would like to help build these sites alongside you, tutorials, courses, guides, etc... So you can continue to do what you enjoy and get paid to do so. Let us decentralize the internet again and make it a place of wonderful discoveries!
Yeah sure that would mean... Making your own website, figuring things out, how to securely process payments etc... But you are in control of it. And because you're technically a small platform owner, Stripe/PayPal, the CC companies won't take notice of your stuff immediately.
The whole SubscribeStar TOS update situation is bleak but, there is an opportunity here. It's going to suck to say but the only solution that's good for a long term is being decentralized. Do not rely on a platform you don't have any control to put your NSFW on it.
