Today I Played: Smile For Me
This is definitely a WTF did I just play kind of game, but I kind of don't mind it cause of how much absurdity there is in the game.
It's like a puzzle game with unsettling undertones, but nothing that ever becomes too in your face.

No Seriously Eyes On: BANDIT KNIGHT
After having played the playtest for awhile I can actually tell you right now, this game would've fit in on the Dreamcast and that's a major compliment, it's timer based but incredibly fun and addictive.

Today I Played - Greak: Memories of Azur
I found this adventure platformer during the women's day sale for $4, it's a touching story between siblings that doesn't overstay its welcome at about 6-8 hours, I think pacing made it feel slightly shorter but I recommend it.

So like if they don't manage to at least somewhat meet Shredder's Revenge or SoR4, I just end up feeling like "well this is okay, but i'd rather be doing this." it somewhat ruined this one for me and it also ruined the Power Rangers one for me.
The thing that really kills bigger budgeted beat em ups for me now, is that I have a certain barometer for quality thanks to Shredder's Revenge, or Streets of Rage 4.
There's also OpenBOR fan made ones that take that bar and set it even higher, but I understand that zero deadlines afford them that.
Eyes On: The Caribou Trail [Demo Available!]
If you're not into walking simulators this may not be your jam, i've always felt they typically deliver structured stories incredibly well, this one is about three soldiers creating a bond and surviving the horrors of war.

I'm genuinely not even going to talk about the story here, because I want you to experience these two games.
They're gorgeous, their soundtracks are ah-mazing and they call themselves an odyssey and it bloody well delivers on it.

I would like to add onto this, this wasn't even a response to my feedback, this dev response was enough to stop me from trying what otherwise looked like a gorgeous Indie title.
I only didn't make this a game to avoid post/link it out of respect to the other creator on the team.

If you work with a team, or co-create a game with someone and you get a negative your review and this is the kind of response you give?
You owe it to your partner to shut up, you only torpedo your game by attacking real player feedback.

Any game that lets me mix and match spells like Magicka or Two Worlds 2 has a place in my book, wacky spells and multiple solutions to every puzzle means we're in for a good time.

Today I Played: Homura Hime
Wasn't sure what to expect going in, can now safely say that it's a solid action bullet hell that definitely takes inspiration from Nier Automata & Dusk Diver, definitely recommend checking it out.

This would've been 'games to avoid' but the problem with that is it's not a terrible game, but this dev went from a unique absurd horror creator, to a knock off Fears to Fathom dev and they're pretty meh at it in comparison.

If you enjoy tougher precision platformers like Celeste this one is that but open world, the combat in it isn't anything to write home about (nor does it need to be), but man is the rest of this game just excellent!
