Transatlantic sequin mule, mum in black, and time lady. Once obsessed with Eurovision, but now? Pining for Canada. Old enough to have visited Leningrad. Lives on Premise Beach. She/her.

He has been gone so long - the idea he would only be 74 has really hit me.

Reaching net zero by 2050 ‘cheaper for UK than one fossil fuel crisis’ Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits

"Achieving the UK’s net zero target by 2050 will cost less than a single oil shock and bring health and economic benefits while insulating the country against future costs, the government’s climate advisers have forecast."

Photo of Baz Warne on the tidy little storage at the Brudenell (black brick work painted with Welcome to the Brudenell). Baldie, 60 something, Baz is holding an acoustic guitar and looking convivial as he points at the audience, he is wearing mostly black. Most of the heads in the audience are bald. Yes there was an interval so old people could go for a wee and get another pint in.

An absolutely lovely evening at the Brudenell Social Club last night. Lots of laughs. A few Stranglers numbers (Goodbye Toulouse!).
Baz Warne doing JJ Burnel impressions is my new favourite thing.

A very faint ghostly tv tower on the far left of a shot of overcast England. Green field in foreground. Bare stand of trees and houses to the right. The moors doing a mild insulate in the background with a grey sky.

Emley Moor transmitting tower? Must nearly be in Leeds.

Does Lithuanian really use the same word for crow and raven?

I dunno. The UK entry just has no soul, no meat, no potatoes. It’s a looooooong three minutes. The chorus may be catchy but it’s not fun? It’s not massively major or any of the usual pitfalls but it feels turgid.

I’m not annoyed. Having checked out this year I would be gutted if it was a winner.

For all that Royal Mail is prioritising parcels over mail at the moment, round here they seem to be delivering neither.

No, it is the children who are wrong This week: Keir Starmer has decided that he blames the voters. Also: some golden age anti-car propaganda; and some new maps of British living standards.

"Where’s the soul searching about why voters might have defected to a challenger from the left? Why, in God’s name, did anyone think it was a good idea to imply a large chunk of Labour’s coalition is, in fact, stupid?"

Newsletter out. Bit angry.

Shabana Mahmood’s firm but fair chin is getting higher and higher with every firm-but-fair photo. She will be staring directly up to the ceiling within 6 months at this rate.

Ditonellapiaga obviously the best so a truly good result would be wins Sanremo and declines.

Ngl the fedez song is what Eurovision deserves. The ebu can spend the whole contest trying to stop him staring down women’s cleavages while he is ‘supportively’ hugging them.

As a result of drunken decisions in Manchester last October my child and I were at the o2 tonight. Can confirm it is not possible to separate the art from the artist and you should not try. And deffo should not see them live.
