Itβs kinda concerning how many non-techie people I know are starting to use AI without really understanding that you canβt take everything it says at face value.

Looks good!
The blacksky.community web application now uses our own API servers to load posts, timelines and profiles.
When data is missing (accounts on the edges of the network, outside of our primary community, etc) we leverage @microcosm.blue
I don't think itβs a coincidence that as companies have ramped up on AI, we've seen more and more service outages.
Congrats!
Itβs kinda scary how much better week over week Claude is getting at writing code.

I'm building on atproto because I think that a single social network has essentially no shot of dethroning the current tech monopolies. But an open ecosystem of interoperating apps is so infinitely more interesting than legacy social that it seems almost inevitable it will win
Itβs a wild time to be a developer
Iβve been kinda heads down lately on a new project. Iβve made some good progress the last couple of weeks. Will probably share some details soon.
βJust throw AI at itβ is not the solution to every problem.

- No third party gets access to Blacksky data, period.

On the rich views, data is pulled from multiple PDSs, so that can lead to a lot more latency. These simple views just pull collections/records from the PDS where the data lives, so it should be much faster. The GraphQL APIs I set up have really helped improve how I pull different scopes of data.

A painting of a tree with a dark trunk and branches forming a large pink heart-shaped canopy, decorated with red, white, and pink heart-shaped leaves, some drifting downward, on a gray background with the initials JW in the bottom right corner.
It didnβt turn out terrible.
This bare tree silhouette uses dark paint against a softly blended gray background, creating a stark contrast. The absence of leaves evokes a winter or late autumn atmosphere, emphasizing the treeβs shape and branching structure.
Doing some painting! Itβs been awhile since Iβve done one these.
got this to a really good state. now asking again; what are popular twitter accounts that you still go to twitter just to check? iβm talking brands/essential accounts (e.g. weather/bots) etcβ¦
i *will* do celebrities, but feel weird doing small individuals that are unpopular.
RTs appreciated!
