Today is the tenth anniversary of Firewatch's release. It remains the thing I'm most proud to have worked on. I saw Tom Stoppard's Arcadia for the first time at the @oldvictheatre.bsky.social last night, and was completely bowled over by the play and by the production. It left me spinning with excitement. I rushed to see if I could buy tickets to see it again before I leave London (unfortunately I can't).

I'm somewhat baffled by the trend of using distracting VFX to smooth the cheeks and often foreheads of actors in movies that are otherwise trying to capture "realism" on camera.

This is a separate issue to the egregious injection based attempts to do a similar thing.

RIP Isiah Whitlock Jr. One of my fav actors to work with, and I'm so bummed that I didn't get to work with him more. I hoped we'd get him in Blindspotting if we had more seasons. I cherish the Isiah Whitlock Jr. talking sheeeeeeeeeit bobblehead he gave me when we finished shooting Corporate Animals.

Even if the only cultural impact AVATAR had was the continual rehashing of the "does AVATAR have a cultural impact" argument, it would still count as massive cultural impact. Every headline, every article, every post, every reply on this topic for 16 years and counting disproves the nonsense thesis.
