Joke's on me. I literally could have just pulled references and done my own art in the time I spent zoned out on Hero Forge.

Is it me or have ads gotten more obnoxious over the years? Not just because you can't get away from them, but they are tonally abrasive AND they're everywhere. Cable TV ads were annoying, but they were catchy & designed to grab your attention, and I guess they don't have to worry about that anymore.

The instability is pretty much everything I'd hoped middle age wouldn't be, but I'll get through this.

This, too, shall pass.

A bit scared because this was at work and I desperately need this job, but I was in no state to work, today. I didn't even feel comfortable getting in my car to drive there. So they got what they wanted, today, even though they're short-staffed, and I hope this was a lesson for everyone.

Just wish people would realize that before they come at others, because you don't always know who you're dealing with. Pretty sure they thought I was gonna walk away in tears or something. Maybe they hoped I'd fight back -- anything other than stand my ground, passively watching them go nuts.

Like, I am a chill fucking person IRL. That's by design. It's a defensive mechanism meant to keep me from being a goddamn disaster and able to live my life. And I feel like I handled that situation better than most people would, which is usually the case whenever someone gets crazy. That said ...

Just because someone doesn't tell you they have PTSD or they SEEM fine doesn't mean all is well, and it doesn't mean you're entitled to that information (or other mental health concerns) before you blow up at them. Check your own issues before poking at others' stuff like that. 🙏

Had an incident yesterday and told myself I was going to calm down, drink some herbal tea, and get a decent night's sleep.

3hrs of sleep, tops. Woke with chest pain. Called out of work 5 sleepless hrs later and eventually got 3 more. Woke with my whole body hyper-tensed and on fire. Y'all ...

I don't know who needs to hear this today, but causing others distress and gaslighting them will never make them suddenly do work better.

Though tbh I'm starting to wonder if the behavior is a consistently deliberate attempt to get rid of people.

I can't begin to overstate the kind of optimism Xen/Millennials experienced as children coming out of the Cold War, until 9/11. Cable TV, rock music, 20yrs of material excess, but also eco awareness making the world cleaner and safer, and no more nuke drills.

And that's why we're tired, right now.

This would require people to comprehend things like how bureaucracy and chain of command work. It is shocking how many people don't know how things work. I'm not even claiming to know it all myself, but this seems like a fundamental feature of society that people understand ... very selectively.

I am reminded that a startling number of people believe that if you’re a member of the military and you don’t like something your government did, you can just throw up your hands and quit the next day like any other job.

It Does Not Work That Way

Friendly reminder that ICE claimed they were running out of money last spring and the gov't has been gutting everything else we have for all it's worth to keep it running. But apparently we can afford war. 👍

I could afford day to day bills for a while, but that's honestly a finite situation, and one very necessary repair can eat your nice little cushion for lunch without so much as a "thank you." Looking forward to doing some writing, today.

Update: things are better. It's really hard to write and worry about things like health insurance and bills and home repairs when there's no paycheck, so it's frankly a necessary evil of our society.

This whole time I've just been quietly watching a show that's only run for 7 ep, waiting to see where it goes. I was aware that some people had unhinged opinions (RIP media literacy), but I've just now learned how far it's gone. I'm so sorry you're going through all this. Take all the time you need.

Anyway . . . just taking a moment to get a laugh at my younger self. Perhaps this is what happens when half your teachers were Silent Gen, and they were nearing retirement and invested in seeing what fresh challenges they could present.

... and that just wouldn't fly, today. Pushing boundaries, teaching controversial material, and asking deep questions to test our neuroplasticity was a national pasttime in the classrooms of my youth.

If you had told me in 1999 that this is what education would look like in 2026 ... I might actually have gone into teaching. Would I have lasted long? No. I probably would've been fired before I had time to fully melt down and quit, because I would've emulated my own teachers/

ultimately designed to do nothing more than prove the student read the book. Congratulations: you read it! We're not going to talk about what you got out of it, no. No papers or book reports.
