Growing up I loved getting my hands on copies of the Eagle (resold, I'm not THAT old) for original Dan Dare. Instantly backed this.

I just backed this! Love the look.
Thank you for not changing Dan into a gritty cynical modern version. This looks perfect!
Tomorrow in class I'm giving my students a network protocol that sends an X and Y and renders that world as cubes. The interesting lesson is that it's a reflection server, so any more extensions have to be agreed on by the entire class. They have their very first standards committee mission!
Starfleet Academy Episode 9 spoiler free review. Bad decisions were made.
Wednesday at 1:50. βTeaching while GameDevβ.
Been a little under the weather today and not done much of anything. Last week of instruction at UCSC this week, week 8 at CSUMB (and my last semester there) and driving up to SF for 1 day to be on a panel at GDC.
So... no pressure. Cmon brain... activate.
Seeing people enjoy a game I made is easily the best part about making games. π§‘
I dreamt last night that one human has to stay awake between 2am and 3am when the clocks move forward for everyone else to make sure nothing happens.
Reminder to those who are flying into GDC through Oakland or SFO...
The Bart exists.
It isn't scary.
It's super convenient and cheap.
Stay focused on Backgammon... stay focused... do not code side project of a side project...
I donβt know what this is but I am here for it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U1o...
Traumatic visit to vet for vaccine shot over.
Also purchased, 7th Guest + Roguelike + Ghostpunk? Excellent.
That's two games purchased today, other one was hurt the steeple 2 or something... :-)
Is the MacBook Neo wallpaper a Pleribus clue? Has Apple started an ARG here? (if they haven't, they should)
Really wonderful article by @nicolecarpenter.bsky.social on Hidden Folks and the sub-genre Sylvain and I spawned and on making searching games in general!

I'll often use movie references when I teach, like Blade Runner, War Games, The Matrix, TRON etc. I get blank stares, and then I realize all my students were born THIS century and the earliest pop culture movie they know is /maybe/ 2012's The Avengers.
Okay, I read the news. I'm going back to making pixel art (programmer pixel art to be precise).
I always wondered how they managed to keep on budget! #TheMoreYouKnow
I said this 4 months ago and Apple listened! I even got the name /almost/ correct. I did get the price a bit wrong but... I predicted the new MacBook! Follow me!
But I loved it all. Except perhaps Section 31, which I should watch again to confirm it was as bad as I thought it was on first viewing. But even that, if given time, would have found its stride.
At least we have a year of content yet to show.
I'm sad that after a decade of new Star Trek that there is nothing new in production. I've enjoyed it all, especially the animated Prodigy and Lower Decks. Prodigy in particular had a real "Star Wars Rebels" vibe that could have grown if given more time.
I've been using aseprite lately (www.aseprite.org) and... it's an amazing piece of software. I used to use Autodesk Animator (3 decades ago) all the time and this tool is really convenient for me to use.
off-white badge ribbons with black lettering that say βHEY letβs talk about MYSTβ
made some very important badge ribbons for GDC next week
Love the specs on the MacBook Neo. It does prove that Apple can make a really big macOS capable iPhone for a very competitive price.
37 years married today to my wonderful wife Lori. Seems just like yesterday that we got married by Elvis at 4am in Vegas with our taxi cab driver as the witness.
Teaching my students how to use Tiled and Love2D (www.mapeditor.org and love2d.org), my in class demo is replicating the VCS Adventure game but with pixel graphics. It's very teachable, small increments every week in code, and results in an actual game.
I know there are good people inside Microsoft who want a different path, the company is full of awesome smart people, but as long as the stock wants AI, they are on this destructive path until the bubble bursts. www.bbc.com/news/article...
If only we would see the light of day and allow our work to be used to train an AI to predict our every behavior and applied to slowly change our minds on what to buy, who to vote for, who to like and who to hate. THEN we would be great...
I'm getting a note here.. okay... allow should be disallow.
