My African colleagues taught me how to carry my baby on my back too.

Here in the UK baby slings are used alot.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby!

People would leave the pram etc with a neighbour or relative, alternatively on order to be delivered after the baby was born.

I only had a sling, Moses basket, baby clothes, bedding and nappies in the house, before my eldest was born 30 years ago.

Back in the day, when I had just qualified as a Midwife in the mid 80's, it was considered bad luck to bring a cot or pram into the house before the baby was born.

It was considered to be tempting fate.

I don't get baby showers for the same reason.

Pain is what patients tell you it is. Period.

Many words used by healthcare professionals can be judgmental, somehow blaming patients for their illness or pain.

My personal dislike as someone who lives with vasospastic angina.
