Out of curiosity, what's the appropriate venue under law to pursue this? Would it be DDC?

(1) The accused declared, ordered, or otherwise indicated that there shall be no survivors or surrender accepted; (2) The accused thereby intended to threaten an adversary or to conduct hostilities such that there would be no survivors or surrender accepted; (3) It was foreseeable that circumstances would be such that a practicable and reasonable ability to accept surrender would exist; (4) The accused was in a position of effective command or control over the subordinate forces to which the declaration or order was directed; and (5) The conduct took place in the context of and was associated with hostilities.
β Former USG war crimes lawyer here.
Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:
Denial of quarterβeven the declaration of no quarterβis a war crime.
And recognized as such by the US Government.
From DoD's Manual for Military Commissions.
The original 1881 charge to the Naval War College was to study all questions of war, and the PREVENTION of war
Things are about to get a little bit littoral in the strait.
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.
"What the fuck are we doing."
The Pentagon is moving a Marine expeditionary unit to the Middle East, as Iran steps up its attacks on the Strait of Hormuz, according to two U.S. officials. Expeditionary units typically consist of up to 2,500 Marines.
Feel like that's something that, if they planned appropriately, would have been done 3+ weeks ago as a contingency, no?
This feels like an "Oh, shit."
I have gone from βnot going to worryβ to βslightly worried.β Itβs one MEU, like 2000 guys, but if you wanted do something now you can
Thought that was very clear from the moment the admin tried to nuke the Netflix deal
Tracey Mann is better than this.
If the government really is worried about Iranian sleeper cells, then it was probably a mistake to systematically reorient the majority of US counterterror resources toward arresting immigrant grandmothers and five-year-olds in bunny hats
All 6 now confirmed, 2.5 hours later...
I am still very confused why they released the first statement.
I don't disagree.
I just have a particular distaste for these two who are far more ambitious than they are competent
Both are bad candidates, for a variety of reasons, and neither have the Trump pull.
I don't underestimate the likelihood of Dems also putting up a bad candidate, but this is going to be a very tough race for R's with a good candidate.
Positioning for 2028 against Rubio in a race both will get crushed in.
I assume it's just that they haven't found the last two bodies. RIP
Just a Spidey sense when you rush out how it's totally not the thing that makes you look like the dumbest motherfuckers in the world.
It may not be here, but they're a little too quick on the trigger with it.
I can't wait for a Democrat to be blamed for not bringing this down fast enough
Breaking news: European countries including France have opened talks with Tehran seeking to negotiate a deal to guarantee safe passage for their ships through the Strait of Hormuz, according to people briefed on the efforts. ft.trib.al/MjGIZ7Z
Just the dumbest motherfuckers
The PAO in me thinks this is maybe worse than they're letting on...
I have some questions about this statement.
1) It is odd to me that they're saying 4/6 are confirmed dead. I assume this was a total loss. Why rush out hope that 2 aren't?
2) They have been almost too eager to deny it was due to hostile/friendly action. I feel like there's likely more going on?
As a relative of General Sherman, can I issue a cease and desist
The general principle is expressed as "kill the archer, not the arrows". Interceptors are intended to be a temporary solution until you can kill the people launching them.
Problem: in this circumstance that would require a ground invasion of Iran.
Official: The Strait of Hormuz is open.
Strait of Hormuz:
A Minneapolis woman who opposed ICE woke up to a drone outside her second floor bedroom window. A man delivering groceries to a suburban distro house for mutual aid recorded a drone hovering above the house. Whose drones and why? (1) www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...
βThere are virtually zero mass shootings in America if people who knew each other stopped shooting at each otherβ
It makes sense that sudden increase in op tempo could contribute in the early stages. And this stuff is inherently dangerous.
I just didn't remember a ton of stories about mishaps during the later years.
Thank you!
