Large Tortoiseshell has been recorded at six counties in the south of England in the last few weeks.
Its been recorded on a handful of UKBMS transects in the south east in the last few years. Will we see it expand and consolidate its foothold this year..?

Well said! Why do the mainstream media keep reporting on Trump as though he is a sensible rational human being, when the exact opposite is true?
Beautiful photo of a beautiful animal!
Love this one!
The best news of the year so far!
I'm not a mycologist, but it looks like a Ganoderma species, possibly Ganoderma applanatum? I think you need more information to be sure e.g. underside of the fungus.

February flutters in with more butterflies and moths to spot this month π¦
As the days get longer and the flowers return, here are some of the species to look out for over the next few weeks in your gardens and local green spaces.
February brings us closer to the return of bumblebees β you might be lucky enough to see some this month π€
Bumblebee queens emerge from hibernation in spring. Keep your eyes peeled this month for early emerging Tree and Buff-tailed bumblebees π
Have you spotted your first bumblebee of 2026?

After two decades of letting nature lead at Knepp Estate, the species recovery has been phenomenal π¦
The @kneppwilding.bsky.socialΒ story is well known. 20 years ago, Charlie Burrell and Isabella Tree's land was managed farmland and the business was struggling.

The orange felon taking the USA backwards, while the rest of the world moves forward.
As many have already said, lots of countries have mail-in voting, including here in the UK.
Yet more lies from the orange felon!
Smoky bracket (Bjerkandera adusta).
For how much longer is this "story" going to be dragged out? Don't lose focus on what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank!
Relentless "improvement" of the countryside leaves no space for nature.
But ever more people are now helping the wild return, through *rewilding*.
No matter who you are or where you live, you too have a part to play in the fight.
There is no better New Year's resolution.
Beautiful photos, Linda!
Indeed!

One of Britainβs last salt marshes has been polluted with thousands of plastic beads by Southern Water, and conservationists say it could take years to clean up.

I just supported this appeal for the NT to buy this vital butterfly site. The surrounding arable land will be converted to flower-rich grassland, greatly expanding the butterfly and wildlife habitat in the centre of the Dorset Downs. Please help if you can www.nationaltrust.org.uk/support-us/a...
Disgusting!
I can't believe this is still being dragged up. Just ban all Israeli teams from international competitions - problem sorted!
