Thanks so much for your kind reply! If it is art, would you still make use of the bowl?
Itβs great that electric lathes exist. Doing it all foot powered is definitely wonderful to have the experience of self reliance!
Thanks so much for writing this beautiful response :) I totally agree. Itβs hard to put a price on things though. Or make a living of it. Itβs interesting that value and money donβt always seem to go hand in hand.
This is a small birch bowl I turned on a pole lathe, and I chip carved the edge. How to value craft? Do we value the skill, or the time? What is the difference between a mass produced bowl and a slow crafted one like this? Let me know your thoughts :)

Kolrosed teardrop scoop, I believe this one was made from birch wood. I am going to do a lot more kolrosing soon!

Large cherry scoop with chip carving. Lovely to see more and more people from the spoon carving community move over to Bluesky. :) enjoy your evenings
Perhaps one of the prettiest chairs I made last year. The seat is hard maple, which I knew was a terrible idea as far as ease of shaping, but the results are wonderful!
A small birch bowl turned on a pole lathe, chip carved and scorched over a flame (the black is permanent now and stainless)
