Since July, more than a dozen pregnant children have been moved to a single facility in the small town of San Benito, along the south Texas border. The children kept in Texas are as young as 13, and about half are pregnant because of rape, according to a joint investigation by the Texas Newsroom and the California Newsroom. In Texas, abortion is banned in nearly all circumstances, including rape and incest.

CMS Quietly Releases Medicaid State Improper Payment Rates for 2025: How Did Minnesota Do? With little fanfare, CMS earlier this month released a Fact Sheet on improper payments in Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and the Marketplaces in 2025. With even less fanfare, CMS this week posted Medicaid ...

Minnesota has a Medicaid fraud rate that is almost 1/3 the national average. A federal court should throw out this decision in 30 minutes

One would think that this would merit an emergency convening of all Blue state governors, Attorneys generals and Congressional representatives. It's a declaration of war on one state which means they'll do it to others too.

It’s disorienting how fast the country moved on. In Minnesota, families are still living with raids, detentions, and federal force in their neighborhoods. The cameras left. The headlines faded. The fear didn’t.

I’m going to say again, infecting your allies with a potentially debilitating and deadly illness is extremely foolish behavior in any kind of movement. You’re doing work for the other guys.

Lots of us used a pronoun labeler on here that has gone away, but there's a new pronoun labeler people are using.

Labelers can be confusing if you haven't used them before (& even if you have). They can be used in different ways.

This thread shows you how to use the pronoun labeler. 🧡

The US will have 11 non-working holidays this year, including Presidents Day on Monday. That's below the global average of 13. If you want a lot of time off, consider moving to Sri Lanka, which grants a public holiday every time there's a full moon. www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/...

Found an additional graphic that gets even more of these quotes together.

I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.

Two Tinker Fellows will develop innovations in AI Two Tinker Fellows will develop innovations in AI to support critical thinking and study learners’ inquiry moves.

I'm excited to bring my AI-skepticism to this fellowship with The Concord Consortium, and hopefully do some research about how (and whether) AI can be used to help with accessibility and teacher professional development.

Another resistance quilt finished this week. The eye is my own design, the letters are a fpp pattern by QuiltByNight, the rounded corners and black binding are meant to resemble the phones we the people are using to document the horrors and disprove the government’s lies about what they are doing.

You can't have a democratic society when the people with power or their violent enforcers have data privacy but the citizens have no data privacy protections.

Here's Bentley. He was interrupted on his snow walk for a photo, which isn't as fun as sniffing things through the snow.

Protests happen, but most of what is happening in Minneapolis isn’t protesting.

More accurate terms:
- observers
- witnesses
- volunteers
- neighbors
- residents
- people
