Based on my experience fundraising for arts nonprofits, I think the lack of public funding for arts, science, etc is one reason that interesting not-evil people hang out with boring evil rich people. One benefit of taxing the wealthy is reducing their ability to purchase social camouflage.

I've been thinking about Albini a lot lately; I suppose I'll always wonder what he'd have to say about bullshit times. A stranger's post told me the Rainbo Rink show was 30 years ago, so sharing this in case a stranger could use a reminder of their own space for friends, music, + kindness. 💛

I wish I could experience it for the first time again - and simultaneously think it gets better each time you watch it. reminds me of the most strangely tender moments of ITYSL in that way. I can’t stop thinking about it

I LOVED IT - and woo boy does it have me examining my own (white) lifelong consumption of Black culture. so much to learn from this incredible - and yes, fun - film and I plan to see it again and again

he’s getting as many of my dollars as possible too - and I hardly ever go to the theater. it’s that special, that incredible, that important PLUS fun, gorgeous, and - particularly That Scene - a truly transcendent experience

I swear I will never forget experiencing that scene. so good it made me think every other time I called something “transcendent” was a joke

totally agree - I loved it all but whoa, the *sound* was incredible in the theater!!

I rarely go to the theater let alone multiple times for one flick, but I was scheduling second and third dates on my calendar on the way home from the first

I’m not typically that guy but it *really* is worth seeing in a theater. seriously
