Superb shmup I heard about on a recent @arcadeattackuk.bsky.social podcast. There are a wide variety of weapons and configurations, with great boss battles. Some of the levels even have puzzle elements to them.
Just completed The Suffering on the PS2! It was a lot of fun and mixed aspects of Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Max Payne and Half-Life titles! The game was well paced, great story and kept me on my toes! I am tempted to cover this on an upcoming @arcadeattackuk.bsky.social pod! Are you a fan?
Video Games have always comforted me in a way that I'm eternally thankful for.
In times when I felt like I had no control over my happiness as a kid, they let me feel like I did. Fears, anxieties, sadness; They all subsided a bit when I lost myself in those worlds.
I'll just always be grateful. 💜

I love playing physical Retro Games because they are still exactly what they were and will never change.
When I pop in an old cartridge or disc, I'm getting the same game that I enjoyed the way it was intended.

Metal Gear Solid (PlayStation, 1998)
It showed us that games could be cinematic in a way we'd never seen. Playing it is like hopping in a time machine and watching modern game staples being invented in real time.
It still holds up and needs to be experienced.
