The hunt for other #sblaar25 attenders in the airport begins!
Just a few reflections while I am preparing a few more new posts!

Tomorrow will start an interesting phase of my life where I move back onto a college campus.
New University. New City. Excited but still have a feeling of something I canβt put my finger on.
Thank you @kylesherling.bsky.social for the recommendation! (At least I think it was you who recommended it.)
The Book: A Jewish Paul by Matthew Thiessen
First post-SBL book done. Started on Friday and couldnβt get away from reading it.
@mattthiessen.bsky.social provides an incredibly convincing argument and I am excited to dive further into the topic. Definitely a perfect primer into the subject matter.
A little taste of my trip to San Diego this last weekend:

And no, I did not go to the Zoo!

Lots to Ponder
I would say it was a pretty great #sblaar24
I was thinking something similar. I would if there is a way to create an adjustment in algorithms for databases that would provide diversity amongst scholarship in searches.

My advice for any first timers these last 2 days:
Go up to someone in your field and introduce yourself. Walk up to a group and ask if you can join their meal. Meet people!
On the flip side, you are more than your research. These donβt only have to be colleagues, they can become friends as well!
As much as I have enjoyed papers, a major thing I missed out on at SBL2023 was receptions. Receptions have been a game changer for me this year, not only getting to hear ideas but talk about projects I am working through! On top of that just getting to meet incredible people who care!

Canβt tease cause I bought the book now so I would get the mug with it!
It was a wonderful seminar to be at!

First #sblaar24 sighting in the airport.
I wish I had been better about brain dumping last year. So many lost rabbit holes!
When traveling to SBL/AAR, what signs do you look for that someone might be going to the conference as well?
Last year I spotted many people by the books they were reading.

The official app is pushing SBLAAR this year. This is only my second year, do they flip it every year?
Making me have to rethink my session choices now!
Wandering around and meeting people mostly. Hopefully hear some good papers to get some thoughts rolling as well.
