in the interest of maximizing performance on computer architectures that lack hardware-based division operations

i will be replacing my padé sine and cosine functions with the chebyshev implementations

i redid my chebyshev sine code
and now it completes its benchmark in just 3 microsecond like the padé sine function
instead of 7 microseconds

it took some math work
at transforming the coefficients instead making the program transform x

now it uses substantially fewer multiplication instructions

but the accuracy of chebyshev for only three terms is rather impressive

maybe a rational chebyshev series could yield the same accuracy as old padé with fewer terms

i implemented the chebyshev polynomial approximation of the sine function

i benchmarked it
the new chebyshev polynomial did 65536 iterations in 7 microseconds
the old padé version did 65536 iterations in 3 microseconds

how disappointing
i guess i’ll have to reserve it for older/embedded computers

i found out that i’m gonna have to rewrite a bunch of my MM_math code for optimizations

apart from just replacing all the padé approximant formulas with chebyshev polynomials

and i’m feeling a bit distracted right now
