Some days it’s true: the mind is willing but the flesh is weak. But that’s not EVERY day. Sometimes only the flesh is ready to go. Other times neither cooperates. It’s a rare and good day (and a day not to be wasted) when both brain and body show up enthusiastic. Rarer indeed I find as I get older.
There is a book out there that identifies all the esoteric secrets of the universe. Maybe. It could be more than one book. But THIS ain't it. And I'm not sure I've ever read it and I've been searching for that single grain of sand on the beach of our lives now for 50 years. And never seen the ocean.
How proud we are to be against something evil. How strong we are to resist. How clever we are to post over and over again the same tired news. How succinctly we offer our own insights while repeating the stupid shit somebody else already said. How wonderful is the work we do. Hooray for our side.
“May the best (or better) man win.” How much of sad, bloody, dirty, diseased, despicable, and otherwise lamentable if not just a little sickening and scary, stuff of human history can be reckoned to result from those words? Maybe the best used to be better. Its advertising doesn’t agree of course.
They tell me sometimes to be less political / but to not speak my truth seems a bit hypocritical / both ends of the stick tend to end up in the middle / part of the whole and part-time individual / scene of the accident and the hospital / only an answer if you have a riddle / in the hypothetical.
It used to be a lot harder for an absolutely average person to pass themselves off as extraordinarily smart. There’s a lot more people pretending to be really clever now. Some are obvious to spot. Others are tricky. Once you’ve cleared the weeds, there’s the talking heads. Brave new world indeed ;)

Idea part 2. An ensemble that combines Theater, Art, Dance, Music, and Poetry. It must happen live (although online is interesting, it doesn't have the same energy). Y'all pick a theme or story, then create the parts and perform together. An integrated performance. Sets, film, score, steps, words.

The idea is this: if you have an education in Theater, Music, Art, Dance, and Poetry, you are at the same time learning history, mathematics, science, teamwork, culture, economics, psychology, communication, leadership, philosophy and languages. You can't get the same by starting at the STEM end.
Music, Art, Poetry, and Dance. Not because u worship the Muses, plot the downfall of the patriarchy, want to make something worth celebrating & remembering, or any of that (though that's all good). Because EVERYBODY needs therapy. That's why. And you get something tangible for your money. Beauty.

On the less is more front, I'm stepping away from online for ~ a week. Not permanently & I'm not going to quit thinking, listening, reading & writing, just not online for a minute. It's too hard to stay focused on what's important to my survival and health while doomscrolling. LOL. Back in a bit.
Less is not more. Less is always less. But sometimes less is enough. Because at some point you have to stop comparing. Less and more are the same: just points on a yardstick that only measures what you want, not what you need, what you have and what you are.
History is full of all kinds of color. If it isn’t, it’s propaganda for one part of the spectrum over the rest. A history book is written by the winning side, usually. The side with the more persuasive weapons and marketing department. Actual history includes the shitty things you’ve done too.

I wish I could say this in my own native language: you can hear without listening, but you can’t listen without hearing first. Purely empirical data but even so, one indicates the other just by making a sound. Or refraining from doing so, as decorum allows. The niceties must be preserved, after all.
In an org chart there’s a clear line of responsibility & authority. In a truly egalitarian society the chart is a circle. Where’s the head? Whoever has the skills required to solve a problem. Their term ends, most willingly, when a new skillset is required. No torch to pass because all are lit.
Here’s the secret, right? Keep the people upstream from you happy enough to pay you enough to keep the people downstream from you happy. And it’s a circle, not an org chart.
When you don’t pick the nerd, weak kid, girl, sissy, geek, ugly one, clumsy one, or strange one unless you have to because you’re afraid you might lose the “big” game, you’ve already lost the bigger one. And it ain’t a game. You don’t make the championships betting against your own team.
