Honestly canβt believe what the Bank of England is putting on our great British fiver
The most British and relatable issue ever
Just downloaded! It was last year. Looks great. I am all for moral economy discussions. Thanks so much
I read that last night! Thanks so much. I enjoyed it (especially the Wapping refs).
..obvs same with books. I have @tricksterprince.bsky.social seven dials and @katrinanavickas.bsky.social protest to read (had hoped the library would get it before I had to cajole my son to get for Mothers Day) - but any 20C Brit History recently published or reccomended - I would love to read.
Feeling a bit like I have had my head down, so doing a journal trawl whilst recovering with the ear. Any Post War British History articles you've published in the last 6 months, or enjoyed, plse let me know - I'd love to read them. I'll link to the ones I read. #skyhistorians
Yeah. That's Wapping.

Fair enough but he's still a hateful man baby , but thanks for the context
It's also not part of NATO. So a crock of shit from all possible angles.
Just seen the scotland score. Was going to watch it with the boys. Massive score, massive game by the looks of it. I just want to bring out the whole "Scotland should be relegated (?)" comment from the Times in the first week.
Police H Division Handbook 1968/69 which is in blue and white typeface. the typeface is very 1960s in design with an extended H that serves as the division and handbook 'H'. Picture is blue and white print of a policeman looking downward.
this is just amazing 1960s design isnt it.
He/She has eyes like the cat in Pus in Boots. Blimey. That cat is getting whatever it wants.
Other half has been banging on and on about doing more cultural stuff with Jn as I do it all. They're meant to be at Cambridge Nat. History and got a picture of him just now dressed like a Beastie Boy (circa early 90s) in JD sports. Ying n Yang innit. Hopefully can steal a Merc badge on the way home
I was thinking that. Unboxing, tapping nails on boxes of academic 'stuff' Collabs. I need to see it.
Photo from the early 1970s of a man on horseback negotiating the Birmingham inner ring road at Holloway Head
Iβm searching for the original and/or rights owner of this fabulous picture of Birmingham in the early 1970s. It popped up on my Instagram feed, but Iβve been unable to track it down.
Any leads? Iβm really hoping to use it in a book.
(And would much appreciate a RT please)
Spent a lovely part of day at Tower Hamlets archives. Tubes are spannered so a nice hour and a bit walk through east London. Came home via my old manor and the side streets. It's changing so much. Gentrification has bled all the way up. Beautiful to see so many people walking and cycling.
Black and white photograph showing two female records clerks, both wearing work coats; one on a ladder is retrieving or returning an x-ray from the shelf in a wallet which reads "x-ray wallet"; the other appears to be checking files against a paper list.

It is competitive mumming vs supermarket Harry Potter outfits. And me at the other end. confused and frazzled and sticking bits on him.
I hate it. Dread it every year. I have no talent, no time, and no shits to give over this performative nonsense every year. The sodding easter parade next and loss of fingerprints through glue gun burns. It is the one time of the year I would be an effective house breaker.
Or a minerals agreement in which the US are forced to publically bend over and...
god we need an edit function on Bluesky and I need to type much slower.
Was gleefully recounting the Hannah Fry 'how to turn a 150g hamster into a black hole,' ending with this tiny particle causing an explosition with the force of several atmoic bombs to my son at bedtime. It backfired somewhat We have a hamster. And heard Iran stuff on the news. Trememdous parenting.
Formula is great though. It saved me in the early days. Mine would take those adaptamil bottles cold (which must have been grim). You've already passed on loads of immunity.
Went swimming. Was doing times drills. Fella kept talking to me. I kept saying I was doing times drills. Then I worried he was lonely and spoke to him properly. He was such a nice and interesting bloke. He got out and I started again. Bit late home.
I had to do that. I couldn't express. Then I was expressing when I could have been sleeping. It was nuts. I just fed him when I could and he had formula at other times. He always took both.
Aww, was she ok? Did she style it out. Horrible speaking at assemblies when everything is going ok. What a trooper.
I'm on here being nostalgic as I am waiting for a document to print out, aware my soul will then die as I have to edit the utter shite I have spent weeks writing.
It has been a year and I am still laughing/in awe of the young undergraduate woman who turned to an older professor who was asking something pretentious and said "I understand all the words you have just said, but I have no idea what you mean when you put them together in that way." Absolute Queen
I am not smart enough to know what that means, but I love that film and also that your child turned off their microphone. I would like to think of that as a statement rather than accident.
