I researched a family that had a “Doratha.” My first time to encounter that name—it became “Dorothy” toward the end of her life.

Truth! I have a PhD in communication. I KNOW that’s how information works—so why was this so surprising to me when I started doing genealogical research?!!

One of my best research trips ever was to Iowa. Researching a country doctor who originated in NYC and ended up in Indianola. Have a great time!!

A woman asked for one for Christmas. She matched a woman I was helping find a birth father for. The woman’s brother was the father. Neither was pleased.

I have 2 of these those cases—a 2x grandmother who marries in 1847 and proceeds to bear 10 children. But who were her parents? And a 4x ggrandfather who appears on a 1754 militia roll, lives a full life, leaves a will naming his 8 children, but who were his parents? And so it goes. #genealogy
